The losses at Oprah Winfrey’s troubled cable channel are approaching a staggering $330 million, according to a report over the weekend.
Industry insiders believe the channel - the Oprah Winfrey network (OWN) - will not last another year unless they come up with a hit show and make a dramatic turnaround.
Though ratings have seen a slight insurgence thanks to interview program Oprah's Next Chapter, it has stumbled since the get go with ratings of just 308,000 daily.

Far larger audience. Huge fish in the over-the-air pond, just one of hundreds of channels in the cable ocean. On top of that she had far less expenses doing a 1-hour SHOW versus putting up funding (or at least part of it) an ENTIRE NETWORK on cable.
On top of that, she lost audience (cable or free tv, wouldn’t matter) when she blowjobbed for Obama in 2008. That wasn’t coming back no matter where she wound up.
Next on the agenda: a bailout of Oprah and her network.

I am 48, Christian, white, vote Republican, and I stay home with my kid. I drive a mini-van and we homeschool. I have no doubt Oprah views me and my types as a virtual pox on humanity.
Therefore, I don’t watch her crap and haven’t for about 10+ years now.
Here’s hoping taht Oprah exits the airwaves and is put out to pasture with her Obama slobbering soulmate Phil Donahue.

Not that anyone should be surprised.
I believe she was worried because her free-tv rating numbers were going down, and after all this time (plus 08 Obama) it wasn’t a surprise that eventually she’d start losing ratings, but still this was a lesser problem than jumping over to cable on her own network channel.
She still would have done better staying on over the air, even if she was still losing ratings. She’d still have had more people watching.
That said I feel no sympathy or sadness she’s been hit by a hard downturn from her own bad business decisions. Everything that’s been negative in her business life is because of things she has done. You made bad and/or unpopular choices, and when you live by your popularity, you die by it too.
Oprah’s ratings were falling and the local TV affiliates were bawking at paying higher and higher rates to carry her show.
The jig is up.

Great opportunity for a group of wealthy conservatives to take it over, I’m sure Rush would be able to put together a group of investors, I think a conservative TV venue could be very profitable, especially if they offer public stock, I would invest.

Cool! A three hundred thirty million dollar loss means that much less money for some stinking liberal “foundation” to spend against decent people after Oprah exits “this mortal coil.”
And remember, the three of them (Ohole, Mooch and Okra) all got collectively b1tch-slapped when they effed up trying to get the Olympics. Thinking their mere presence alone would be more than enough to guarantee Chicago getting the games. Also all their insider friends who had land that would have been developed for the games.
The Olympics cmtte is just high school on PC steroids. But seeing Obama and Okra shot down by them was incredibly precious. The average Chicagoan probably was happy as well as it would have made life so much worse there getting all that crap ready.
I remember that. It was early in his term and it was greatness when the Won and his thug entourage failed to impress the Olympic committee. The first great failure with many more that followed. People and leaders around the world don’t like the Obamas.
