“Could you please at least reconsider your barrage of “ABO” as this euphemism for (potential) Romney voters, etc. (& others who will seek to find “safe haven” under that umbrella?)?”

It is imperfect shorthand, but in the context of my opening post on this thread and in the context of JimRob’s TRUCE declaration to which this thread linked (and the TRUCE declaration re-posted in this thread) it should be clear that persons who actually SUPPORT Romney, as in admire Romney and believe he is a sincere candidate, are NOT covered by the TRUCE and are not invited back to posting overt support for Romney on FR.

I only had so many characters to put in the limited space of the allowed FR title and I wanted to jam in a lot of concepts in a small space. The thread, warts and all (including two who thought I said JR had been called a RINO), has drawn 1300 comments!

I don't accept the literal meaning of “ABO” because I would not vote for a candidate who would harm the Republic MORE that Obama just to avoid voting for Obama. That would be unpatriotic, IMO. But the anti-Obama FReepers who also loathed Romney and who took offense at comments that were made about them before the TRUCE to the point of demanding to be Zotted self identified as “ABO.”

In view of the loss of the extra funding for Jim's equipment in this FReepathon I devised a title for a thread that would most clearly invite these self-identifying ABO FReepers who also loathed Romney to read the thread, find out about the TRUCE if they had missed it and reconsider that cancellation of donation or withheld donation.

Five or six ABO FReepers on this thread have commented that they have reconsidered and RENEWED their donations as a direct result of this thread. Another half dozen were drawn to the thead by the ABO term and said “no deal” they were still PO’d at JR and FR...yet they are still on FR and read the thread...and some have renewed making their case that voting against Obama is currently the highest priority for them.

I also don't agree that the term “RINO” makes any sense, as a comment mentioned way up thread. The correct term, IMO, would be CINO, that that is not the name that the ABO FReepers were called before they were invited to consider leaving FR, so I used the term RINO.

Thank you for explaining the thought processes re: that euphemism.

Why not acronyms like PRV (Potential Romney Voter)? Which depicts the proper wariness ANY conservative should have in voting for Romney...

Obviously for those who've already made up their mind, drop the "P"...RV (Romney Voter)

Then for those who are subtly promoting Romney -- or dissing third-party voters...those would be: "RPA" (Romney Public Advocates) or "RPC" (Romney Public Campaigners)...which WE both know few non-OPUSing FREEPERs would readily "ID" themselves as (in keeping with the site host's wishes).

Which means the above acronyms simply serve to allow the RPAs and RPCs to "slide in" -- safe haven-like -- under the other acronyms above...especially yours.

Now that may not be your intention...but it does -- in part -- provide "safe haven" beyond the "I-see-no-choice-but-to-vote-Romney-as-of-now" clan...which are Romney campaigners, advocates, etc. operating "on the sly."

But...I concede..."RV" might do the same thing...it's just more frank...and not euphemistic...
