President Barack Obama has promised not to attack Pakistan-based al-Qaida leaders or fighters from bases inside Afghanistan.
The surprising commitment effectively bars Obama and his successors from launching another nighttime helicopter raid like the one that that killed Osama bin Laden. That raid has proven to be Obamas primary foreign-policy success because it killed bin Laden, scooped up much intelligence data and shocked Pakistan.
Obamas commitment will also end the use of secretive drone-attacks from Afghanistan. Those attacks have killed hundreds of al-Qaida leaders since the mid-2000s. Theyve also been very popular with U.S voters, and usually have had tacit Pakistan approval.
The unadvertised provision is buried in the deal that Afghan president Hamid Karzai and Obama signed with much campaign-style fanfare May 1 in Kabul. It could provide a legal shield for Pakistani-based al-Qaidas leaders, front-line fighters, terrorism-planners, allied terror-leaders, funders, terror bases and terror training-grounds.
The United States further pledges not to use Afghan territory or facilities as a launching point for attacks against other countries, says the provision, found in paragraph 6b of the eight-page deal.

Obama has all but surrendered. Might as well bring the troops home until (if ever again) we get a real American President.
This further confirms that Karsai is hedging his bets and is now a willing puppet of the Pakistani Regime.
For an American president to agree to terms like this is treasonous and a grave disservice to our people on the ground.
Baraq might as well line up the family members of our dead heroes and slap them across the face, one at a time.
What a poor excuse for a President.
This just adds to the rumor that this decision was made while “The Great Zoro” was out of the loop and on the links.
Yep; this is an agreement for defeat. Who wants to get killed during target practice by the terrorists in Pakistan which is now a sanctuary. Next we will have the 'Taliban in the Afghanistan government and Biden will tell us it is a good thing.
To sign this agreement is an admission that the bin Laden raid was wrong to do in the first place and that he was “forced” to do it.
Each time a Dem “talking head” praises his anniversary celebration now in full force, this fact should be exposed and forced into the debate.
I guess lessons learned from Vietnam are quickly forgotten.
Obama is not the Manchurian Candidate anymore, he is the Manchurian President.
if he steals the election, there will be HELL to pay. Tighten your seat belt! It’s going to be a rough flight!
You can’t nation build with a bunch of filthy Islamic savages. Time to leave anyway. If there is a terrorist camp we know about...bomb it. No more ground troops.
I agree wholeheartedly!
Yea, good luck with that Karzai. Are you the only one left on the planet that doesn’t recognize that Ø’bozo is a serial liar who would (and has) sold his own family down the river for personal gain?!
I don’t understand why any American wants us to stay there. It is beyond me.
And the agreement...It's all about MONEY.
