“And to compound the lunacy, theres not a single candidate about whom Ive EVER seen a consensus here. They all have some foible, quirk, past position, appearance (weight, hair, etc.), or other disqualifier that the self-righteous chest-thumpers attack them for.”
DITTOS on this.
I wanted Perry. he was attacked lambasted for being impure and open borders for in-state tuition (dont agree with him on it, but so what? didnt make him non-conservative).
Newt, Santorum, Cain, etc. all attacked as well by folks for the other side. Much more negative than positive energy.
Result? NOBODY IS LIKED. Nobody gets consensus support. maybe we need an 11th commandment.
“Its a shame one of these perfect people dont run and give the world an opportunity to vote for the perfect candidate.”
There are none. That’s the point.
The constant Romney attacks are part of that too. He’s not perfect nor conservative, but the anti-Romney hyperbole is extreme to the point of absurdity, inclduing the silly claim that he’s not different from Obama; might as well go to dKos if you want a site trashing a Republican that bad.
If FR would clean up negative-attack-spam, it would help. It’s one thing to logically critique a candidate. It’s another to see the same attack-spam gif for the 100th time.
One could make the argument that Mitt's current platform is far more conservative than Obama and that it's worth taking a long-shot chance on Mitt.
That said...
Mitt is a known liar.
In my view Mitt's supposed "conversion" on abortion (and other issues) is a little too late in life for me to believe.
It's still May. Why support Mitt now when his stinky feet need to be held to the fire, every minute of every day?
At this point in time I will reserve judgement on what I will do in November.
