Good ruling. The statistics clearly show that Pit Bulls are far, far more likely to cause death or serious injuries than any other type of dog.

To Pit Bull owners who will argue that their dogs are “good dogs”, I’d say then you have nothing to worry about from this ruling as your “good dogs” will never hurt or kill anyone, so liability won’t be an issue for you.

I’ve known some Pit Bulls that are sweet and cudly..
BUT... with Pit Bulls(and some other dogs) they can become beasts..

Something, who knows what, can cause them morph into “animals”.. not pets..
Totally pissed off and highly aggressive..

One minute sweet and the next monsters.. that IS the problem..
Pitt Bulls are the democrats of dogs..

A breed's popularity destroys it. Happened to the German Shepard in the 60s. Dobes in 70s. Rottys in 80s. Now Pit Bulls. Inexperienced breeders mate brother to sister. They breed known vicious dogs with others. Intensifies the bad points as well as the good.

When purchasing such a breed, best to go to a proven kennel. Not a puppy mill type op.

We rescued a female pit bull last year and she is the biggest baby and cuddlebug you ever met. It’s my third pit in 30 years and never any problem - except for the guy who tried to break into my car one evening. Those who call for extermination of the breed are just ignorant fools with big mouths.

Ludicrous. The pit bull is no more inherently dangerous than any of the breed distilled from the extinct "Alaunt" war dogs, from the Great Dane to the St. Barnard to the boxers, for crying out loud.

This is saying the breed is tantamount to being a separate species. They might as well "rule" 2 plus 2 = 4, "except when it equals five.

There really is a thin line between the courts working cases of "first impression" and magical thinking.

I have a shelter pet dog we adopted. I have absolutely no idea what she is in terms of the breed mix. My best guess is German Shepherd and some type of bull terrier. But everywhere I take her people keep asking me “is she part Pit Bull?”

I guess she has some physical resemblances to a Pit, but I honestly don’t know. She is such a sweetie it is really hard to imagine that she is. I would have no idea whether this law applies to me or not.
