Not understanding how the church condones all of this. That is what puzzles me.

Actually the divide is between practicing Catholics, those who attend Mass, receive the sacraments and pray, and nominal or lapsed Catholics. The latter include those who were baptized and never practiced the faith or believed for a while and then fell away. They simply don't really believe. Dozens of Democat pols fall in this non believer category: Biden, Sebelius, Pelosi, Kerry, the Daleys. No one who really believes in a Just Living God attentive to the affairs of humans would endorse the mass for-profit killing of innocent unborn children. It doesn't bear thinking about.
