Documentary ‘The War on Kids’ compares U.S. public schools to prison system

Are public schools becoming more and more like prisons?

That’s what the documentary “The War on Kids” says.

Based on interviews with educators, medical professionals, students and sociologists, the documentary, which received a limited film festival run in 2009 and is being released this week on the Documentary Channel, paints the picture of an increasingly authoritarian and paranoid school system that is failing its students, stripping them of their civil liberties and constitutional rights.

“Kids have no voice. Everyone pretends to care, but it is never true, and it’s the children who are being blamed for all the failings in the education system,” filmmaker Cevin Soling told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column. “People do not learn when they are in such an autocratic environment

I knew when I originally wrote the post it would get no response from our friend wintertime. Par for the course :-)

I am a full-time student. I really do have more important things to do that to follow your every word. You must think very highly of yourself to think that Freepers would care.

Alinsky: Descredit the message by attempting to discredit the messenger.
Gabz and Verga....Freepers are very smart. They immediately recognize this debating tactic and will judge those that use this accordingly.

Yes, we all do - you utilize it well. You are once again attempting to do so in this post.

You are the one who equated a private business, McDonald's, with a government entity, state or federal park - and when I called you on it you refused to acknowledge you were wrong.

You are the only Alinsky in this conversation and you know it and are too embarrassed to accept the fact you are the one that is WRONG.

By the way - you are also rude as you did not address this post to Verga, even though you spoke of and to Verga - another apology you owe. Of course you are well known to be far to rude to ever apologize to anyone.

Believe me, I think far more highly of myself than I think of you.

I notice you didn’t address any of my pertinent comments about your high regard for your “comments” that allegedly get picked up by “major editorialists.”

You are just too funny for words.

You obviously think far too much of yourself if you think Freepers would care about what a newbie has to say - most especially a statist newbie who has no clue about the difference between a private establishment and a government entity.

BTW - I’m happy to hear you’re a full time student - I hope you are taking at least one class where you will learn the difference between public and private property.

Verga: Being a highly educated teaching professional, with a newly minted masters degree in education, I trust that you would **never** use this Alinsky debating tactic on emotionally and educationally immature students who are in a position of inferior power. To do so would be child abuse. No, no,....Teaching “professionals’ would never never do that to children.

Speaking of Alynsky tactics thanking for personally attacking me through innuendo.

It is also fascinating that you can even dare to make such a comment with ever having been in my classroom or observing me teach.

To top it all off Gabz asked you a direct question about how we can verify that YOU have been the one quoted since no one knows your "Secret identity", and no response or for that matter to the questions I posed to you in post #52.

You are correct the intelligent readers will see through your shenanigans every time.

And which public institution are you attending? How much money are you receiving in the form of federal student loans or grants?

If I remember correctly, and I’m sure I do, she made a comment once that in her state, and at her age, she could attend the state university free of charge. And that she probably would go back to earn another degree, because, hey, it’s free.

Take that as you will

“There are no solutions ( practical or unpractical) that resolve the fundamental problems with socialist-entitlement, single payer, godless, government schooling because it is a socialist-entitlement, single payer, compulsory, government program.”

Amen!

I was accepted as a full-time student to a private atelier. I am thrilled to have this opportunity since the competition for admission is very keen.

By the way,....I **know** that professional educators would **never** use the highly manipulative and Alinsky debating strategy of attempting to demean a student's character rather than addressing ( directing) the student's arguments. No, no! A true “professional” teacher would **never** do this to a student in a position of inferior power and immature emotional development. I fully trust that “professional” teachers, would never do this in a classroom.

Although Freepers frequently see government teachers using the Alinsky debating technique of personal destruction as a distraction from the addressing the socialist-entitlement and single-payer foundation of all government owned and run K-12 schooling, this Freeper **knows** that no government teacher would ever do this to a student. Nope! Never!

so rather than do something productive like start a charter school you are padding your resume.

Actually real Freeprs would realize that you are using the Logical fallacy and Alinsky technique of innuendo.

I also noticed that did not respond to the question of how we know that YOU are being quoted by commentators since you refuse to identify yourself and the quotes have never been attibuted to you.

And since this thread died over a week ago are you so desperate for attention that you need to bring it up now?

Verga,

I fully trust that “professional” K-12 government teachers would NEVER use Alinsky debating tactics on emotionally undeveloped students in positions of inferior power. That is the standard that all professionals ( regardless of profession) would hold for themselves and their patients and clients.

While we see ( with some frequency) here on Free Republic, that government teachers attempt to distract attention away from the argument by attempting to discredit the poster, I personally, fully trust that this would NEVER be done to a student.

Why don't you be plain? You state that I am using “innuendo”. What? Are you calling me a liar?

Rather than address my points you attempt to destroy my character by stating that I am padding my resume. My resume has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not government schools are godless socialist-entitlement, single payer monstrosities that can not be fixed.

Please remember that even if the DEVIL were to speak the truth, it is still the truth. Truth is truth regardless of the messenger. Hopefully, that concept was taught to you during your many years in colleges of education.

Whether or not I can fully prove to **your** satisfaction that my ideas have been picked up by leading editorialists is absolutely NOT relevant to whether or not government schools are godless, socialist-entitlement, single payer institutions that can NOT be fixed **BECAUSE** they are fundamentally godless, socialist, single-payer, compulsory use entitlements.

Finally, I recognize my own text in other people's work when I see it. Once I was riding about town and an advertisement for a private school came over the radio. The ad was my **exact** text, word for word. This ad ran for 6 weeks. So... , yes, INDEED,... I do believe that I am making a difference in how government socialist-entitlement, K-12 schooling, ( as well as its employees) are perceived. On those ideas that are not my own, I am pushing mightily to see that they are spread thorough the culture of ideas.

Finally, please look at the posts. I was not the person who resurrected this thread. Another Freeper pinged me with a comment and brought this thread to my attention again.

Nice try - no cigar.

I can't help but absolutely roll on the floor laughing about this----

Rather than address my points you attempt to destroy my character by stating that I am padding my resume I hate to tell you darlin', but that is the pot calling the kettle black. That is what you always do and all FReepers know it. Remember, darlin' I've been here a heck of a lot longer than you.............

lets dissect your little hissy fit comment by whining comment:

I fully trust that “professional” K-12 government teachers would NEVER use Alinsky debating tactics on emotionally undeveloped students in positions of inferior power. That is the standard that all professionals ( regardless of profession) would hold for themselves and their patients and clients.

While we see ( with some frequency) here on Free Republic, that government teachers attempt to distract attention away from the argument by attempting to discredit the poster, I personally, fully trust that this would NEVER be done to a student..

Once again the same song different day. I dare you to come into my classroom and make these same assaults by innuendo. Because it is you and you alone that are resorting to alinsky tactics here. and I don't see any of your minions agreeing with you or rushing to your defense.

Why don't you be plain? You state that I am using “innuendo”. What? Are you calling me a liar?I am saying that you are jumping to conclusions with our having all the facts. this has been historically your modus operandi (Method of operation in case you know as much about Latin as you do public schooling).I notice that you are the one instigating an Ad Hominem attack. You can't defeat my argument so you try to get me banned. WOW great debate tactic, is that part of your homschooing curriculum>

Rather than address my points you attempt to destroy my character by stating that I am padding my resume. My resume has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not government schools are godless socialist-entitlement, single payer monstrosities that can not be fixed.

I HAVE ADDRESSED EVERY ONE OF YOUR POINTS TIME AND TIME AGAIN. (Yes I meant to shout) you are the one that runs and hides every time you are losing the argument. As for padding your resume the comment was that you are getting your education for free, sucking at the public teet AGAIN. at a public institution that YOU condemn

Please remember that even if the DEVIL were to speak the truth, it is still the truth. Truth is truth regardless of the messenger. Hopefully, that concept was taught to you during your many years in colleges of education.Thank you for admitting that you re the devil.

On those ideas that are not my own, I am pushing mightily to see that they are spread thorough the culture of ideas.

So to clarify your side engages in plagiarism and that is okay with you. tell me the name of this institution of education that thinks it is okay to plagiarize. WOW you must really feel foolish now saying something so obviously ignorant. (Snort chortle chortle snicker)

Finally, please look at the posts. I was not the person who resurrected this thread. Another Freeper pinged me with a comment and brought this thread to my attention again.

Two finallys, Wow so is this final finally or is there another final final to follow? where did you learn to write and compose a letter? As for the content You posted almost 12 days after my post to you, I didn't resurrect the thread, and SBmom pinged you to be polite. Grow up

I am pleased and honored to be attending a private atelier.

What part of **private** don't you understand?

What part of atelier don't you understand ( a field utterly unrelated to anything I have ever done in my life.) I have NO resume of any kind in this field, and it would in fact be damaging to report this on any other resume in my other former fields of employment.

As for plagiarism: Anyone, at any time, has ( and always has had) full permission from me to use any of my words ( without attribution) to forward the idea that all government K-12 schooling is fundamentally evil and must be completely shut down.

Freepers:

Please note the personal attacks directed at my character by people who claim to be professional government teachers. Personally, I trust that because of their training in our nation's colleges of education they would **never** attempt in the classroom to discredit an argument by destroying the character of an intellectually undeveloped student who is in a position of inferior power.

(Freepers, please note that there is no sarcasm tag.)

?For those of you that are not fluent in wintertime this translates to: Verga is correct I am doing this so I don't have to try and actually make a difference in the lives of children I can just sit in front of the computer and whine.

As for plagiarism: Anyone, at any time, has ( and always has had) full permission from me to use any of my words ( without attribution) to forward the idea that all government K-12 schooling is fundamentally evil and must be completely shut down.

Plagiarism is illegal and since they did not have prior consent it is just plain wrong, but nice try at trying to cover up. BTW first it was "editorialists" now it is a private school, isn't it funny how you change your story like other people change socks.

Freepers: Please note the personal attacks directed at my character by people who claim to be professional government teachers. I think Freepers here are smart enough to realize that pointing out the inconsistencies of your story is not a personal attaacknor it Alinsky tactics. It is simply pointing out Facts, and letting others make judgments for themselves. As opposed to your Alinsky tactics of ad hom by innuendo and trying to bait others into making personal attacks.

They re also smart enough to realize that you have failed for the third time to address Gabz's direct questions.
