NY Department of Health Considering Ban on Happy Hour
Party Poopers Eye Unhappy Hour
By GARY BUISO
Happy hour in the city could end if Department of Health policy party-poopers go ahead with a proposal to outlaw beer and booze specials at bars and restaurants, sources told The Post.
Its absolutely been discussed, confirmed a department source. It goes to show you the spirit with which they operate. Everyone is a child.

Those people are smoking crack! Happy hour is the shnizzle..
They should call it Bloomberg induced Prozac stupor. That’s where they’re headed anyway.
I’m pretty sure M. Stanley Dukakis beat NYS by almost 30 years, banning “Happy Hour” in MA shortly after his triumphant return to the Governor’s office in the 1980s.
Then have free-food hour and everyone will get fat,
then they’ll ban that.
Pass a law saying that all government bureaucrats, elected or appointed, need to wear webcams wired to the Internet 24/7 so we can make sure they aren't accepting bribes or engaging in other corrupt activities.
For the children. If we can save just one life, it will be worth it.
We’re not Secret Service agents.
MA is looking to lift that ban - with the casinos getting lined up to build in the state the bars/restaurants want equal footing with the casinos on ‘gifts to’ patrons.
It’s been illegal here for years.

Remember! Professional politicians and their government knows what is best for you. You should never attempt to think for yourself at home.
Call it 0bama hour and the regulators will approve.
Correct. I believe 1984 was the year it went into effect.
Bar owners did come up with a clever way to circumvent the ban however. They started putting free appetizers at the bar like chicken wings, mini-egg rolls, meatballs on sticks, even shrimp cocktails. So while they had to charge full price for the drinks, they were still reeling in after-work customers with the free food.
Sure wish I did...
mmmmm...I love me some Kellers.
So many of the older burger places have flamed (no pun intended) out.
Everybody I know that has left Texas still begs for a Whataburger care package!
Those seniors are a terror on the roads during commute time.

We had an old time burger joint here that was from the 40’s until about 2 years ago.
They had malts and car shows
I loved that joint.
They tore it down and built a DQ
I screameed... WWWHHHHHYYYYyyyyy!!!!!!
California has good food and watering holes.
To bad you can light a cigar anywhere in the state anymore.
Teddy Kennedy is Dead...
How will this help now?
My Son wasn’t raised here (divorce)
The first time he ate an entire Whataburger he was so proud.
I told him “son, today you became a man” LOL
Ever since, Whenever he visits we always have to get a Whataburger.
Now that he’s of age I will have to take him to Kellers.
I hate when the older places are torn down. We have one here that I frequent. But DQ and Sonic are hurting them.
Way to go Mylife’s son!!
There used to be several Kellers locations. Now I only know of one. It should be an experience for him. :)
If you decide to do a “burger tour”, there is a burger joint called Motor and Maple (also it’s location). Hole in the wall place, excellent burger, surly owners and...real tater tots. You can’t get in there during the lunch rush, which is probably a good thing for me!
Then they couldn't have been that good.

Thanks for the tip on Motor and Maple.
I love those kinda joints
LOL...Ya'll have your fair share of dry counties...
You’d be surprised how many people will eat at McDodo over a good burger place.
I don’t understand it but people do it.
They are still good..not out of business yet.
Sonic excels at speed. And truth be known, Sonic is hurting DQ as well.
DQ is suffering and I’m sure gonna miss the dip cones.
I think it equates to Home Depot and the local hardware store.
(And no, I didn’t miss the jab at the local burger joint vs DQ and Sonic.)
Dang..I didn’t notice you were from NJ.
Now, that’s where I always go to get a good burger. ;)
You’re not looking in the right places ;)
Just pass out the Mao suits and bicycles now.
OK, I've gotta say it. I've held it in far too long....no matter who I piss off.
For a state that likes to revel in their "tough-guy" image, so street smart and sophisticated, so much swagger.....New York is populated by the biggest bunch of candy-assed pantywaists I've ever seen in my life.
They keep allowing this crap, they keep electing the Bloomberg's and their vile ilk, they keep losing the most basic of freedoms, and they do SQUAT about it.
Hey, New Yawkas.....grow a set and tell these a**holes to pound sand.
Ditto to that. Metrosexual run amok.
Rutt’s Hut in Clifton NJ, since 1928.
Grew up on it.....
Home of the ripper.
We really need to get behind this new rule, because clearly “Happy Hour” is the biggest problem facing the city.

Thanks Sub-Driver. I always appreciate knowing where to eat in an unfamiliar area.
Not sayin’ you don’t have a great burger, but if I visit NY or NJ I want to eat Italian. I hear it is out of this world. If close to the coast..I want to eat seafood.

Hell, we have dry NEIGHBORHOODS - I live in one. Of course 3 blocks in one direction and 7 or 8 in the other the problem goes away.
Who would have thought the Nannies of NYC’s Democrats would have become the new Oliver Cromwell Puritan Party!
