Recruited By Mika, Guest Tries-But-Fails To Debunk Devastating Obama-Celebrity Ad
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/27/2012 5:52:49 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

If you haven't seen the hilariously effective ad by Karl Rove's American Crossroads group that portrays Barack Obama as a celebrity president with a failed economic record, check it out in the video clip.

Mika Brzezinksi was clearly peeved at how well the ad was playing even with her liberal-dominated panel. After Obama fan Donny Deutsch, and no-conservative-he John Heilemann praised the ad, a Mika at wit's end sought to recruit HuffPo's Sam Stein to help her out. "Can you debunk some of the things in the ad?", she entreated. Stumbled Stein: "ah-h-h-h-h, sure, I guess." After offering a paltry defense that Joe Scarborough demolished, Stein was reduced to saying that Mika had invited him to try to debunk the ad, and that "I'm trying my best!"

View the amusing video here.

This is funny! Watch hilarious Obama-celebrity ad by Rove’s group, then watch Mika ask liberal guest to debunk it—and he can’t! Ping to Today show list.

I was eating my oatmeal while watching this at about 6:10am EST. Yep, she made the case that anything bad we see now is just stuff Obama inherited, and she says that anything good we see Obama should get credit for.

She is pretty dumb, those facial expressions she makes when others are talking are priceless.

Debbie does the DNC also was trying to make the same case.

As long as the economy is bad, it’s because of Bush, and whenever we see something good happening in the economy it’s because of 0bama’s policies.

I think she really believes it, based on the assumption that capitalism doesn’t work and socialism does.

What cracks me up about her is her attitude about Obama reminds me of the unfairness of what went on with the too big to fails: Privatize earnings, but socialize losses.

IOW, anything good is because Obama is a great president and leader, but anything bad is because of Bush leaving such a big mess.

Even 3.5 years into it, for crying out loud.

Thinking people will not take that seriously. ;-)

—Does Mika seriously think people in 2012 are gonna think voting for obama is a vote against George Bush...again?—

I noticed that meme on NPR the other day. They tried to make McCain be Bush in 2008 and then ran against Bush, and yesterday they were doing the exact thing with Romney.

I’ll never vote for Romney and think the country is so far gone it may not matter much who is in the oval office, but their strategy would only work with a VERY uninformed and, frankly, stupid electorate.

Sadly, there may be enough of them around.

RE :’I think she really believes it, based on the assumption that capitalism doesn’t work and socialism does.

Maybe but she could just as well just want those watching the show to believe it, concerned with what would happen if they dont. Voters might stop believing in Obama and socialism.

Republicans had/have similar problems. GWB cut taxes early on 2001/2003 but toward the end of his presidency 2007/2008 the economy unravelled. That allowed Dems to claim (falsely) that it was at least partially the tax cuts that caused it. .

Because Bush left office with a mess, Republicans are put in difficult situation claiming the Bush economy was great (he gets the credit) and bad (Dems get the blame) all at the same time.

It's called politics.

I’d say Democrats track the opposition (that’s us, Campers) pretty closely.

If one were a Democrat today, trying to keep tabs on how your likely opponent is gearing up to challenge you, you might go directly to sites like FR to try to understand his or her strengths.

Frankly any liberal reading here, has to believe the GOP is quite determined to destroy itself before the election is even held.

Fortunately, FR is the resistance, not the mainstream. In spite of all the gnashing of teeth, Romney DID WIN! There were people who identified themselves as Republicans, (I know, all RINOs), and cast a vote for Romney. No one made them, bribed them, or changed their votes.

There are a lot of us who are sick of seeing what Obama has done to this country, and will vote ABO, even if that is Romney.

Freepers can get on board, or watch from the sidelines, it’s their choice.

If you hate Romney really bad,
and you live in a state “not in question”, either red or blue,
you can vote third party without putting Obama in office.

That’s exactly where I’m at.

As a New Yorker...the only incentive I’ve had for standing in line on voting day was to give my candidate the highest number possible.

I also get the satisfaction of looking at our county on the NY map, and ours is sometimes the only red county. Some elections one or two other light up red..but ours is consistently red time after time.

Romney does not inspire me to turn out. Maybe I will be inspired by the thought of writing in somebody. We’ll see.

And then you can emulate playing the silly games that our elected officials play. You know the one:

This bill is really unpopular, we only need 20 votes out of the remaining 30 members, so 10 of you can vote “against” since you’re up for re-election.

How about just dealing with reality? We have a 2 party system, Obama is horrible. No matter what you think of Romney, he’s better than Obama.

I think part of what’s driving the anti-Romney sentiment (other than the obvious preference stated pretty clearly, by the owner of this fine site) is that many seem to have drawn a conclusion that Romney, is like McCain.

On that, this poster would differ. I heard Rush Limbaugh mention this also, recently.

The very important difference between John McCain and Mitt Romney, is that Romney really, genuinely wants and is in fact deeply committed to, WINNING THE ELECTION.

He’s not running to beat his primary challengers, as McCain was. He’s not just trying to win over media leftists, by beating other Republicans.

No. Romney is in this to be president. He’s been utterly devastating in effectiveness, as far back as 2008 when his minions pounced on and demonized Sarah Palin, and his entire world since then has been about winning the presidency this year.

Every move he’s set out to do, he has accomplished.

I’m no Mitten. I find the guy revolting, and carry a grudge over his flunkies’ treatment of the finest Republican candidate this century (Governor Palin).

But there’s really little question anymore, Romney is pretty talented at winning elections.

He’s going to be a formidable opponent against Obama, if he ends up our nominee.

And he’s no communist.

They did it in the '30s and '40s with FDR. They woke up every day and blamed Hoover, elected and reelected FDR 4 times until G-d finally had to intervene. Faith in the socialist myth trumps reality for these people no matter how bad it gets or how long it lasts.

It is frustrating. I voted for Gingrich but then wished I have voted for Santorum.

Now, it will be ABO.

I just hope he picks a really good, conservative running mate. I would like to have something to get excited about.

Isn't it funny that Obama chose the blunt nail Biden and it didn't matter? McCain (RINO) chose Palin, and it almost caused him to win. I think it scared him silly that he might actually win.

At least Romney really does want the job and is fighting for it. I think McCain just wanted to be the GOP candidate. He was fine with being runner up.

great minds. I said something similar in post 26. At least he really wants to win and is willing to take it to Obama.

As silly as the dog eat dog episode was this last week, it showed that he and his team isn't afraid to go after Obama on all levels. Apparently, Mittens is a fighter and is willing to not just fight his own family (Republicans), but to fight the leader of the neighborhood gang.

Mittens willing to take of the Mitts against Obama?

I agree with your post. I’d also add that Romney wants to be president as a goal. That is, he has no agenda like Obama. So, if there is a strong Congress, I think Romney can be pushed into being somewhat conservative.

And he doesn’t hate America.

That argument was popular here in 2008 EXCEPT most people polled said they thought that Republicans still controlled congress. So republicans got creamed.

Then in 2009 I started posting that the above was not a very good argument anyway. So I got called a DUer a few times for not being a R team player (not the last time either LOL)

The problem with the : 'Pelosi took over the House in 2007 so that's why the economy started it's diving ~ 8 months later, September 2007' argument, is that now Republicans took over the House from Dems with Obama as POTUS.
Do we use that same rule and give Obama a pass for rising prices and crappy employment and blame Boehner for all these problems? I like to stay some-what consistent.

I admit it, I voted for Perot, even though he did lose his mind at the end.

Oddly enough, the commies at Morning Joe made a good point, after playing the “Obama Celebrity” ad. Perot is a bit like Trump.

I first heard of Perot, with regard to something remarkable he did, when he was the strong-willed outspoken entrepreneur mogul and boss of EDS.

When Carter lost Iran, a couple of Perot’s employees were trapped in Tehran, as the situation deteriorated.

Perot himself, sent in mercenaries to rescue his employees and successfully brought them home. That’s astounding.

I’d vote for Perot now, if he ran. And I’d probably vote for Trump.

He is a genius huckster, slick as goose snot at promoting his own advancement at the expense of EVERYONE around him.

At least OB was honest about his intent to trash this country when elected. Trump can’t be trusted one millimeter to put the interests of the US before his personal ones.

Good try.

The fact of the matter is that the Republicans only control 1/3 of the power structure in DC as of 2011 which isn't all that long ago. You can't do much with 1/3. You can do MORE with 2/3 and if you have the whole enchilada like Obummer and the socialist Rats did in 2007-2010 you can do a lot of damage that will take a while to undo and believe me you CANNOT do it with 1/3 of the power.

Perspective....it's a "must have" in situations like this. Some Freeper has a nice chart of Congressional control and the economy. It even denotes divided congresses and congresses with total control. It is a real eye opener and if the dumbed down sheeple could even get this concept instead of the "its ALL the president" drivel, it all becomes crystal clear that the Rats are BAD for this country. PERIOD. Especially when they get TOTAL control of Congress.

It seems to me that Republican Presidents view congress whether Democrat or Republican controlled with a lot more respect as representatives of the people, whereas Democrat Presidents view the Presidency and a means to cram their agenda down the throats of the people and those that represent the people.

DISCLAIMER: This doesn't mean that a few Republicans haven't went veering off the path here and there.
