Pragmatism is the key. A Conservative without it becomes a footnote. A Conservative with it has books written about them.

Not pragmatic enough to get Mitt Romney to vote for him, or to not reject republican registration during Reagan's presidency, in 1989 Romney started fund raising for democrats.
