" If you aren't reading everything you can get your hands on about underground resistance movements you should be."

Can you link an example?

There's tons of stuff on the French Resistance. Here's a good aggregator page with lonks to Amazon, etc. There are many others.

The Soviet history is hard to find in English. There is a good overview here that touches on a lot of interesting topics (such as how the partisans coped with major cultural differences in their ranks). Sajer's perpetually-in-print Forgotten Soldier offers some grim detail (from the anti-partisan's perspective) as well.

Books:

"Enemies Foreign and Domestic", "Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista", and "Foreign Enemies and Traitors" by FReeper Matthew Bracken

"Unintended Consequences" by John Ross (I have a PDF; FReepmail me)

"The Art of War", Sun Tzu (many good translations available; there are even free ones on Amazon for Kindle)

"Patriots" by John Wesley Rawles

Low Intensity Operations: Subversion, Insurgency, Peace-Keeping by Kitson

Army manual Counterinsurgency -- tells you what government's response will be
