Her reasoning might be incorrect, but her conclusion could be correct. Romney on the top of the ticket is going to depress GOP turnout. The Dims could end up winning some seats by getting close enough to cheat into a win.

She is absolutely correct. Millions of the most right wing people will sit home rather that vote for mittens. Millions of others (like me) will hold their nose and vote for him, but will do little else. And yes, I have been there before.

In 1994, I and every other gun owner in America was up in arms. I could call almost any of my friends and get a commitment of time, money, support, you name it.

By the time 1996 rolled around, they were so disenchanted with Dole that nobody would commit to anything. And I have a strong belief that many of them didn't even bother to go to the polls.

That's how we got the “bent one” in 96, and how we'll probably get the “zero one” in 2012.

Conservative enthusiasm is going to be nil for POTUS and that may spill over to the other elections also.
