People have to admit-people like the Romneys do not have a normal life like most of the average joes have- like worrying about rent payments/paying bills on time/getting kids clothes/school books..they have maids-gardeners-chefs-chaffeurs special elevators for their cars :) Ann Romney probably does not associate with people who are not in her spouse's income earnings. She reminds me somewhat of a Martha Stewart type. Been nice to see her show grace not running to Fox and a twitter fight. She would do anything to help Mitt as what we are seeing. Imo.

Not many recent Presidential candidates come from that type of background, though lots pretend they do.

Actually she does. I know a few people who know her and say she is a good, down-to-earth person. They go to the same place to get their hair cut, the same grocery store, etc.

She'd have very few friends if she only associated with people who were at her financial level. (I'm making the distinction between income and wealth.) There just aren't that many billionaires around.

Since when is it eeeevil to be wealthy? What Rosen said is that Ann, and by extension, all stay at home moms, of which I am one, don't have a right to an opinion on the economy, because we, 'never worked a day in our life'.

Don't you get it? This was a disaster for the Dems. Most of the moms I know are madder than a wet hen over this. There are commenters at DU and Kos that didn't like it.

Not only did they lose half the chick vote right there, they energized the meh voters like me, who were frankly unmotivated to vote for Romney before this.

Rush played part of an interview that Ann Romney gave at some point where she discussed the first years of their marriage. They did not get assistance from their parents. They lived in a basement apartment furnished with cobbled together items and studied at a desk made from a door propped on saw horses, she with a baby on her lap. I think it’s wrong to say that those whose parents have given them emotional support to succeed on their own are incapable of empathy toward those who have struggled. Lessons can be learned through observation and not just experience.
