“The next recession will be intentional, and it will be programmed to hit end of the year is my sense.”
TAXNEGEDDON is coming in January 2013.
The Obamacare taxes kick in in full force, and the Bush tax cuts expire.
Business knows what is coming, but the non-Fox media refuses to even mention it, for fear of being branded racist.

upward revisions now 53 of 54 last weeks? Does anyone have a chart showing the announced no's vs the revised (up/down) no's?
To: Upstate NY Guy
Bush's fault. Yep! Watch the next "blame the lousy economy on..." poll to show 60% blame Bush.

The prior week's figure was revised up to 367,000 from the previously reported 357,000.
what's that now ? revised 58 out of the last 59 weeks ? keep hiding the worse news in the revision...
To: Buckeye McFrog
No they won’t. The msm will just make up their own numbers.

UNEXPECTEDLY!
Wow, imagine that.

I’ve been keeping track of these releases for some time on a spreadsheet. As of the moment, the statistical probability of 57 of 58 jobless claim releases being revised upward (assuming an equal chance for an upward or downward revision each time) is ...wait for it... 0.0000000000000201228%. Coincidence, I’m sure.

After a while, the books have to be taken out of the oven .. you can cook them only so long.
Then you blame the stove, the oven, the oven manufacturer, etc.

Staying drunk would be the only option if Zero manages to slime and cheat his way back into another term. Only problem is....we won’t be able to afford food, much less alcohol.

With the choice now narrowed down to being between a slimy Massachusetts liberal or an incompetent Chicago Marxist, employers have little optimism. I stopped hiring once Pelosi started talking as Speaker, started cutting way back a year later as I saw her spending, and eliminated my last employee just after the 2008 election because the former junior US Senator Obama was passed on to our White House. I will not under any circumstance hire until January 21, 2013. If Romney is the nominee, then I will not hire until January 21, 2017. I am not supporting the economy beyond the minimum I need for my personal comfort until we have a decent conservative in the White House. Why not? Who is John Galt?
Note: I helped those employees I had to let go (with the exception of two who were not terrible productive) set up in business as my "competitors", and they are doing fairly well but without the stability that came with my company.

So, in plain English, this week's preliminary figure was up 23,000 over last week's preliminary figure.
Just like here in Absurdistan where the legislature didn't pass all the new taxes in time - we have a $500 million cut to make, a "doomsday budget"! Never mind that even that "cut" will leave the budget at $1 billion more than last year!

The unexpected will continue as long as there is a shortage of qualified expectors.

New claims for unemployment benefits rose last week to their highest level since XXXXXXX, a development that could raise fears the labor market recovery was stalling after job creation slowed in XXXXX.
LOL. Fill in the months. I have been hearing this for over two years. First comes the initial media announcement. All the breathless network announcers gushing over the wonderful job numbers. Within two weeks we have the "unexpected" revised job numbers.

Thanks for all the replies re: the “hussein says something dumb drinking game.” As usual, my FR friends are right. The game would quickly get out of hand, leading to alcoholism and all the health problems associated with consuming that much alcohol. There are just too many drink-deserving conditions. After all, if we tried to limit the game to only a few reasons/causes to drink, the liberals would accuse us of favoritism, racism, sexism, or any number of other negative labels based on what we did or did not choose to include.

“Additionally, higher gas prices have again siphoned off discretionary cash, so that has also softened any demand for other items.”
Even worse for Obama (and the average American), GROCERY PRICES are siphoning off discretionary cash. Obama underestimates the angst of people that pay their own bills; he is finished.
