“Okay, I would love to have a good conservative candidate to vote for. What is the plan that accomplishes that? In my state’s primary I voted for Santorum, unfortunately he lost by 4 percentage points.

How do we get someone conservative on the ballot? I am seriously all ears here.”

My question as well.

What plan of action, SPECIFICALLY are we talking about at this point?

We all KNEW the Primary was critical and yet here we ae again with another McCain/Dole.

I’m fine with not voting for Romney, but who do we vote for?

Jim, I apologize for introducing this, as I do not know how you feel about the site I'm going to link (it has gone much more GOP-e in the last year or so).

But there is a site called RedState.com, run by Erick Erickson (who is a Minnesotan, like me). On this site, a couple of years back, there was a series of posts about something called the Precinct Committeeman Project.

The idea is to take over the GOP from the ground up, swarming all the lower level *PARTY* positions (not governmental positions) with TeaParty, grass-roots, movement conservatives: and working our way up the levers of power in the party, so that Romney-esque shenanigans can no longer be pulled on us.

Here is a link to one of the earliest mentions of it:

The Committeman Project.

(Vassar Bushmills got the equivalent of a RedState *ZOT* a year or two back, for reasons I cannot now recall; but I think that another poster there called ColdWarrior has been pressing the Precinct Committeman Project as of late.)

And as far as the Romney situation goes: let's work to deny him the nomination on the first ballot.

If he names Sarah or Col. West as his running mate, I'll gladly vote for the lower half of the ticket -- as I did in 2008 by voting proudly for Sarah Palin, not for whatshisface.

If he nominates a RINO, I'm stumped. Obaama represents a literal, existential threat to the country -- and by that I mean unilateral disarmament (to be followed by a Chicom invastion or nuclear strike on all our major cities, they need lebensraum) or else war on Israel (in which case GOD kicks our ass, and deservedly so).

But Romney just plain blows.

NO cheers, unfortunately. Cheers!
