Unlike my parents, who grew up in the Great Depression, I had it easy as a child - they had punishingly hard childhoods. By virtue of their hard work, I had an easy childhood in the 1950's and early 60's. They had it easier in their later years - I've been working solid for fifty years and have nothing to show for it but a few possessions - my house - no pension - and the will to go forward. I'm 64 years old and I can't retire anytime in the foreseeable future - still have three children at home. Get a small disability pension from the VA, it helps make the mortgage payment and keep the wolf from the door, but that's it. And if you think that makes me some kind of taker - I paid for it with my blood on the field of battle.

Do I expect a government agency to emerge from the clouds like some Deus ex Machina and take care of me? Hell no! I'm still kicking and as long as I am, I'll make my own way through life. Take my lumps and I'm damn proud of them.

These creatures of entitlement need to have their grip wrested from our economy and future before it's too late. We need to take back the Nation for those who have built it and fought for it! That's my say, and I stand by it.

Nos genuflectitur ad non princeps sed Princeps Pacem!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

My parents were small children during the depression. They both had it pretty hard. Because of that they tried very hard to make life easier on us, which they did. I only noticed we were lower middle class when I was older, my parents made sure we had what we NEEDED not WANTED all the time and we did many things at home as a family which didn't cost a lot but kept us occupied and close all these years. We ate well because my parents couldn't as kids, and my mother learned to cook the most delicious meals to feed a family of six because good cuts of meat and fresh vegetables and treats were like a gift to her. My father would never take help from anyone, and it angered him that people would want all the freebies, affirmative action, welfare, etc. He had compassion for people but those that really needed it. He used to roll his eyes when the msm couldn't understand that there were non-rich Republicans. He used to say being a Republican was about self-reliance, self and fiscal responsibility, supporting the military, etc.

When I went to college, my roommate was black. We were great friends. She was one of the few conservatives on campus, and black to boot! Just about every other week we'd get different black groups on campus trying to recruit her to their particular cause. She just wanted them to leave her alone! When I'd answer the door, I'd get skeptical looks, like why would she room with me? We used to chat before going to sleep about how lucky we were because we were put together as roommates randomly as freshman, and we knew so many roommates that didn't get along.

Anyway, one year we did out financial aid forms at the same time and I noticed I had a higher GPA and my parents made less money but she was eligible for more scholarships and aid from the school then I was! She apologized to me. I said it's not your fault.

We had a black-panther like group come by to recruit her and I answered the door. She saw who it was and told them to go away. They saw her army uniform and said “Your rooming with a white person in the army, you are a traitor to your race!” she said that's my uniform, I'm in the reserves. Then the story changed to “The white man is making you serve him to get an education. Whitey (me) didn't have to enlist!” she told them “Whitey here works harder then all of you combined.” And slammed the door on them. We couldn't stop laughing that she had called me Whitey, and I felt bad that people associated her with these groups just because she was black.
