I took my family to Tunisia on R&R from Saudi Arabia some 30 years ago. People thought we were nuts going from one moslem country to another during ramadan. We were very pleasantly surprised. They may have been moslems but they seemed at the time to pretty tolerant. The vast majority of guests at our hotel were Europeans, mostly French and German.

You went to a country where Western tourism was an important part of the economy, which does a lot to encourage "tolerance". Today, the Salifis will do all they can to make Tunisia unsafe for Western tourists.

True that. We bring all of our bad habits with us, thus tainting the purity of the locals. Shame on us!
