Hmm...I’ll have to do some research, I thought `homos’ & `heteros’ came from the Greek.

Somebody once said that while homosexuality & sexual deviancy can’t be eliminated, they should at least be relegated back to the gutter where they belong. Mainstreaming of these evil tendencies is ruinous to a society, as if there isn’t plenty of historical evidence.

I retired from the Army a year ago so I didn’t have to hear the latest mandatory classes aka brainwashing about the end of DADT.

Meanwhile, God bless the Marine Corps! I think the Marines will find a way around this latest outrage, flung at all of us by a true hater of the military.

Umm - you may be right and MY Greek faulty; after my last post, I remembered the word "homogeneous" as in "rolled homogeneous armor (RHA)". My bad. Looks like the meaning is "unreasoning fear of sameness".I congratulate you on your successful career in our nation's Army! I agree with you that we are lucky to have completed our service while homosexuality was still illegal. As the wag put it, "good thing we left before it became mandatory..".

I have had old friends of mine tell me that the young service personnel's attitude about active gays in their outfits has changed and that it may be no big deal. I know they are wrong: they are buying the media's carefully crafted image of gays being nice and inoffensive people that just happen to prefer each other. What they leave out is that the military services depend on fairness in command, hence the very important restrictions of fraternization. Once the command knows that the 'old man' is dinking one of his own (and they always know) the unit's perception of fairness and trust go right out the window. How can you trust that your promotions, your assignments, your awards, your selection for schools will be fair if some of the command is sleeping with the commander? Male gays and to some degree, lesbians, have many, many "partners" across units, services and elsewhere. Their loyalty goes primarily to their sexual connections. I know of what I speak, having conducted several investigations into homosexual rings within the service.

Now that our president (lack of capitalization intentional) has opened the floodgates and our military chiefs have folded like a wet napkin, we face the situation where this kind of rampant preference will go undeterred. The old joke saying "who do you have bl_w to get promoted around here?" will be sadly true. The effect on unit cohesion will be devastating.

I hope that with a change of government and maybe some spine among our careerist leaders we can revisit this mess.

Ah well - Semper Fi, Buddy
