Seamus the Irish Setter is getting his own super PAC.
Politico reported today Democrat Bob McDevitt has filed paperwork to launch the super PAC Animal Lovers Against Romney.
It will tell the tale, first publicized by the Globe, of Mitt Romneys decision to put his dog in a kennel attached to his station wagon roof for a family trip from Massachusetts to Canada.
McDevitt told Politico his goal is to get the message out just how callous in temperament Mitt Romney is.
The groups website, www.mittismean.org, is being launched next week. The super PAC, meanwhile, is aiming Internet ads at 10 battleground states.
It has a budget of $1 million.

My father exiled me to the back of the truck once as well threatened to strap me over the hood of the car like a deer.
(I guess my mother talked him out of gutting me, which I am sure my little brother was for!)

BFD. Was the dog injured? Would it be better for you if the dog rode inside and one of his kids was strapped to the top? Romney's story was that he strapped the dog to the roof because he was carrying luggage inside the car

At least he didn't tie his dead aunt to the roof

It was a tradition started by the general in the late 1800s.

I don’t know.
The dog ran away after, to an unknown fate, rather than be part of this particular fate.
I guess the possibility of getting eaten by coyotes was preferable.

I believe the dog incident says something important about Romney. What, he doesn't leave it in a kennel when he goes on vacation. Man, how criminal.

My cats hate dogs...but hate Romney more for what he did to Seamus!

What, he doesn't leave it in a kennel when he goes on vacation. Man, how criminal. Which do you think Seamus would have preferred?
After all, Seamus was so traumatized he fled into the Canadian wilderness upon arrival rather than live with Romney.
Bottom line...don't trust a man who mistreats his animals!

I live in a rural area where the preferred mode of transportation is a pickup truck equipped with gun rack inside and a dog of mostly indeterminate linage in the truck bed. Generally the dog is untethered and, unlike the Romney pet dog, absolutely vulnerable to serious injury from a variety of sources. Our Collie was seriously injured when the previous owner hit the brakes on their pickup and she fell out and wound up with hip surgery. She very recently died and to the end she had difficulty with her hind quarters. How far Romney haters reach to feed their hatred appears to be unlimited. I might add that trucks hauling a variety of livestock are common on our highways and byways and those animals are not comfortably caged as was the Romney pet dog. I think that the pretension to be concerned about any animal for the sake of political gain is mean and stupid and reflects badly on those who play that game.
