WASHINGTON (AP) -- While the rest of us have to wait until June, the justices of the Supreme Court will know the likely outcome of the historic health care case by the time they go home this weekend.
After months of anticipation, thousands of pages of briefs and more than six hours of arguments, the justices will vote on the fate of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul in under an hour Friday morning. They will meet in...

Meanwhile, Aunt Ruthie will just leak.
Yep. Bet she has a hotline directly to the Marxist.
SCOTUS always conferences on the Friday after arguments to take a tentative vote. The reason for the tentative vote is to decide who will write the majority opinion: if the Chief Justice is in the majority, he assigns the justice who will write the opinion for the Court; if the Chief Justice is not in the majority, the senior justice in the majority assigns the opinion. (Any justice can also write their own concurring or dissenting opinion.) Votes can (and very often do) change once the draft opinions are circulated.
Hello there Caww!
Regarding reading: Ha..I think not. It is not their job to read the bill although that is what the government solic. atty was trying to convince them to do.
Obama may have dirty info on Kennedy or some of the other Justices and will use that information to intimidate.
You really believe that? I wish it were true... but I know it is not.
One thing the article does not mention is that the court may desire for a number of reasons to announce this decision as soon as they can get the opinions written. Some of those reasons are:
1. The further away from the elections they can make it the less political impact it may have. I think Justice Roberts is trying to keep the court out of politics as much as possible.
2. Every day that goes by, the more this law is implemented. If it is to be overturned, sooner is better than later.
3. Congress may need to act if the entire law is overturned and the sooner before the election, the more likely Congress will be able to summon the political will to act.
From what I read they always vote on Fridays on case heard that week as a matter of practice. Rush was related info from a lawyer friend about this too. I don’t if they will make a decision Friday but they will vote on it.
We'll know by the incredible avalanche of weeks of media hysteria over radical conservative judges who might ignore the will of the people. Rats will go nuts on the floor of the House and Senate about possible judicial overreach and the tradition of stare-decisis. Let the show begin.
Kagen not recusing herself when she was so intimately involved in the advocacy for ObamaCare should be an impeachable offense. As Michele Bachmann said tonight on Mark Levin show, the four activist liberal judges showed their favoritism during the oral hearings by asking questions supporting the government case. They solidly support Obama care and will not change their minds. It comes down to Justice Kennedy and though he asked tough questions of the solicitor general, his last statement that maybe this issue deserves support gave Bachmann and others pause.
Sadly, I fear you will be right.
Just curious as to what rates as Front Page News here at FR and why this article was pulled. Do you not feel that the vote on this marxist plan is newsworthy?
Just very interested so that I can be a good little FReeper and fall in line with this particular mods whims
Does Scalia have a favorite watering hole he likes to go to at the end of a week?
This is going to be a lulu. While most of the conservative justices will likely go for the meat-and-potatoes constitutional issues, it is also likely that Justice Thomas is going to surprise everyone with a masterful opinion that will send all the other justices back to their offices to review the history books.
That is, the other conservatives might want to kill Obamacare, but Thomas may go way beyond that to undermine a whole lot of 20th Century unconstitutional progressivism.
Two of the most important “liberalism out of control” clauses abused in the constitution are the “interstate commerce” clause that previous courts had even extended to to put intra-state commerce under federal management; and the “general welfare” clause, which is the fundamental basis of the welfare state.
If Thomas can be persuasive enough to convince the other conservative justices to agree with him against these, it could rattle the unconstitutional parts of the federal government to the bones.
It wouldn’t just wipe out Obamacare. It could take an axe to half the federal government.
I’m very suspicious of the Regime in that it pretty much allowed a fast track hearing of their prized legislation. They may have calculated that a June “unconstitutional” vote will provide the spark to a summer of race riots and civil disobedience. Obama would use this to initiate Marshall law.
I hope you’re right actually. But the article indicated that June is still the time frame to announce. Have they ever announced decisions earlier than scheduled? Do you know? I’ve never really paid too much attention to the time frames.
