Funny, Giving Hep B vaccines to newborns doesn’t sound right to me. Was there any reason to give your grand son Hep B vaccine? Does your daughter/daughter in law have Hep B? If not, does it not seem like a bad idea to give a newborn multiple vaccinations for a disease they have almost no chance of being exposed to? You do realize that it is transmitted via blood/semen and most newborns through at least 10 years of age SHOULD NOT be coming into contact with those things or doing IV drugs.
Bottom line, if mom doesn’t have it, babies don’t need it.
“You do realize that it is transmitted via blood/semen”
I realize enough to know that a person doesn’t have to be sexually active nor be an IV drug user in order to be infected.
Many who have had the virus for decades aren’t aware of it until very late in life, if then. They may have been infected during a blood transfusion from years earlier.
Then they passed it on to their kid, and so on.
Then think of an infected child [maybe one from another country with an infected blood transfusion] biting your child to the point of blood transfer.
If someone has concerns and feels the risk of the vaccine is greater than the risk of infection, they can opt out.
