A super PAC supporting former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has used an out-of-context quote from Rick Santorum to argue that the former Pennsylvania senator is irresponsible on economics.
The new Restore Our Future spot, called Care, ties Santorum saying he doesnt care about the unemployment rate to his spending votes in the Senate.

When I heard him say that on the radio weeks ago, I knew it was going to come back and bite him in the ass, later.
Hey Mitt, who is the one who said he doesn’t care about the poor? Who the one who said they would bet $10,000? Who is the one who said $380,000 is no big deal? No one has to tie them to you - because you said them yourself!! The unemployment rate in MA during your administration was 47th in the state. Didn’t you care?
Its tit for tat. Romney was attacked for an out of context statement that he wasn’t worried about poor people. So now Santorum is being attacked for his out of context statement that he isn’t worried about unemployment.
They actually each had an important point to make, which was drowned out by the noise machine. Romney said, the poor already have a safety net, he was focused on putting getting the economy going again and putting the middle class back to work.
Santorum’s point was that his focus was on liberty. That unemployment figures rise and fall, but liberty is the key.
Since each is guilty of distorting the other’s point, I suppose they are even.
boo-hoo
Santorum’s SUPERPAC should turn around and run an ad on Romney saying “I don’t care about poor people” on how Romney has no plan for EMPOWERMENT of poor people out of poverty.
