So was it a Gaffe when Gingrich said the stand your ground law doesn’t apply in this case and said Zimmerman had found a dangerous hobby?

Gingrich is a jackwad for doing it, too. I’ve read that Ron Paul is the only one who hasn’t commented as such. Anybody know if this is true?
I am a Gingrich supporter but I don’t support his comments on this.
