“Yup, and while I knew they were doing this with guns and smoking for years.. it now cements in my mind that every stat they put out about smoking is BS and flat out lies as well. It’s all about control.”

As a former smoker (not antismoker, I hasten to add) I have to agree. It’s about control. I remember the antismoking PSA offensive hit fever pitch in the 1970’s when they screamed “thirty percent of smokers will die of lung cancer!!”

No math major but I deduced that this meant that seventy percent of smokers would not die of lung cancer. Well, shazaam!

I quit because I made a personal decision. That’s all.

If they said that they were lying. Only 7% of smokers contract lung cancer. That is double the rate of non-smokers which is 3.5%. I got that from an American Cancer Society publication in the '80s. Good luck finding any statistic on that now. I spent hours searching for it and it's not publically available anymore.

But the numbers you heard in that anti-smoking campaign are a lot like the "90% of guns in Mexico are from the U.S." statistic. Pure BS propaganda created out of whole cloth. The government and MSM are lawless and lie at will.
