After reading most of the comments on the thread, I wouldn’t call “emo” typical of American culture, nor would I advocate copying “emo-ism”. It is destructive and perverse. I’m sorry the Iraqi kids got influenced by it, and even sorrier that the Iraqi fiends are fiends and butchered the kids mercilessly.

No, “emo” isn’t typical of American culture. It’s more of a subculture. But my point is, they’re rejecting muslim/middle eastern culture. And who can blame them? Anything, even emo, is a step up from that.
