WOLF: Mitt beat Rick, but Newt beat Barack
The Washington Times ^ | March 8, 2012 | Dr. Milton R. Wolf

Only one Republican has made Obama squirm

This wouldn't be the first time the media missed the real story. In the wake of a split Super Tuesday, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum scored wins against each other, but it was former Speaker Newt Gingrich who single-handedly drove President Obama into panic mode.

~snip~

And then there was Newt Gingrich, the Lazarus of the presidential campaign, as the Drudge Report recently called him, ready to rise once again. While the mainstream media stayed focused on the game of checkers between Mr. Romney and Mr. Santorum, Mr. Gingrich forced President Obama into an astonishing game of chess.

In a 30-minute video titled "$2.50 per Gallon Gasoline, Energy Independence and Jobs," Mr. Gingrich unveiled his vision for renewed American prosperity centered around oil and natural-gas production. He demonstrated his unparalleled insight into the intersection of energy, security and prosperity. Mr. Gingrich rightly declared that never again should an American president bow before a Saudi king. Meanwhile, Mr. Obama, stung by his recent half-billion-dollar failed Solyndra boondoggle, began floating his latest green fantasy of harvesting algae to cure the pain at the pump.

Panicked by Mr. Gingrich, Mr. Obama was forced off his game and repeatedly tried to respond, only making matters worse for himself. He stayed true to the Democrats' anti-energy agenda and mocked Republicans for wanting to drill for new oil. This made the president the butt of a joke for Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show": Democrats claim that new drilling for oil won't help us for at least 10 years, but haven't they been saying that now for more than 10 years?

Dr. Wolf knows the one man his cousin fears - and down deep, we all know who that is.

Gotta just love this:GO NEWT!!

How come Romney doesn't say/do stuff like this? IMHO, for two reasons: 1. He's just not that smart. 2. He knows deep down there's no way he'll beat nobama.

Newt is the only one calling Obama a radical and mentioning Saul Alinsky. He is taking him on regarding all his radical designs on America. Go Newt!

You’re right on both counts. He’s sadly lacking in the smarts department and I’ve no doubt he knows he can’t beat “The Won.”

I was quite impressed by this article. I hope more of the voting public will be responsible and do their own research. Mr. Newt has an amazing depth of knowledge and his ability to come back on any topic is what makes him such a dangerous candidate for the opposition.

Romney and Santorum just do not have the ability to come up with the right response in a matter of seconds, and Mr. Newt seems to achieve greatness in a matter of moments. That is what it will take, along with the courage to turn the questions around on the moderators. The debates will be what America needs to see for the contrast they will display.
Mr. Newt is the only candidate with the ability to fight the liberal press and all they will bring. Romney will get flustered, and Santorum will get tougue-tied. I hope the American people will utilize their ability to cut through all the negative ads and do their own research. Those negative ads have really done a number on Mr. Newt, and he will just have to work twice as hard to bring himself back to where he needs to be.

At the risk of insulting all the Santorum supporters: “you are supporting Santorum!”

Newt can trash Obama in a debate — heck, he’s trashing him and they’re not even debating!

I think that's a very good point. A presidential campaign is an ongoing debate, not just a debate event. Newt has shown he excels in this.

Jaz, earlier this evening I was watching a you tube from Hardball- Matthews was frothing- he wanted Newt to withdraw.

I found this curious, because all along, Matthews had wanted Newt in— presumably to attenuate the process to the GOP detriment. So, why the switch? Well, ultimately, Matthew played a clip of Newt at a gas pump with the nozzle in his hand- and Matthews called him an “opportunist”.

But, now Matthews reversal made sense— From Matthew’s perspective, Newt is now not hurting the GOP, at least not as much as he’s hurting Obama.

This article makes the identical point.
