Disillusionment belongs to the young, not the old. No officer I ever knew, and I knew plenty of them despite my short tour, would ever stoop to the antics which you have. I worked with them day in and day out in every phase of my work and they were of the utmost character and now I have a great respect for those with whom I served.

I've come late in life to understanding the reasons why officers lived on such a different level than the enlisted men. They have greater duties and greater responsibilities than we lower enlisted men did. My greatest responsibility was to ensure that I didn't steer the ship into a bridge or into a ship running alongside us during replenishing. And even then there was an OOD in charge to ensure things went smoothly. You remind me of no officer I ever served with whatsoever.
