“The Masque of the Red Death” (1842), is a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. The story follows Prince Prospero’s attempts to avoid a dangerous plague known as the Red Death by hiding in his abbey. He, along with many other wealthy nobles, has a masquerade ball within seven rooms of his abbey, each decorated with a different color. In the midst of their revelry, a mysterious figure enters and makes his way through each of the rooms. Prospero dies after confronting this stranger, as do the guests.”
Maybe there is more to your story than I realize, but Prospero comes to mind whenever someone informs of their plans to escape America. In reality America is just starting to get exciting after a long, dull period!
Look,
I’ve already made the travel plans.
Excitement is what you are looking for? Well, if you find excitement in an unrelenting attack on personal freedom, common political corruption, and a crooked legal system, you are about to have the time of your life.
I’m nearly 64 years old, I have beat 4th stage cancer three times and therefore have a very doubtful future.
I don’t care to spend the rest of my days-—probably not very many-— watching the country I love being chewed to death by rats.
So, have a ball my fellow FReepers. I used to enjoy doing this but things have gotten a little too ugly for my taste.

PS: I am Asturian on my mother’s side(very common in Tampa). But I never read much Poe. I really thought somebody must have used Prospero as a FR screen name and either flew the coop or got zotted.
