True, he’s a libertarian. As to being a fraud, I haven’t seen that but maybe you’ve researched that more than have I.

What would YOU call a liberaltarian who runs as a Republican?
I would call him a fraud. I can't think of anything better.

Again, HE SAYS, but he refuses to do anything. Can you name just one thing he has ever done, not what he hasn't done, just one thing he has done to slash the federal government? I didn't think so.

No paulbot can. I have been asking the same question for about 4 years now. As of yet no paulbot can tell me even one thing he has ever accomplished that will reduce the debt.

“You mean he SAYS he is opposed, but in reality he has done nothing to stop them.”

And Jim DeMint, whom I admire, SAYS he is opposed to a lot of things. And he votes against them. And more often than not, he loses. So is DeMint doing nothing to stop them?

“The problem is, there are a lot more dimwits that refuse to end earmarks altogether You mean like Appeasement Paul?”

Do you have the rollcall votes that show where he opposed an end to all earmarks?

Big government types to not like earmarks since earmarks take away the power of big government bureaucrats to determine exactly how the tax payer money is spent instead of Congress. The down side of earmarks is that is facilitates a you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours attitude in Congress that leads to big spending. Bottom line is earmarks are not the problem, spending is the problem.

“spending is the problem”

Yes it is.

Louie Gohmert sponsored a bill that passed the House yesterday (or the day before) that would make a significant reform in spending if it were to be enacted. (It won’t be with Harry Reid over the Senate and the CommiePunk in the Oval Office.) It would end baseline budgeting.

To stop our deficit spending at the current amount of revenue, we would have to trim about $1 trillion a year. That is what Paul is proposing. I agree with him.

I don’t hear many of the candidates talking about how much they would like to cut. They talk about tax reform, which is good, but I’m not hearing a lot about specific spending reductions.

Actually, sometimes someone in Congress NOT accomplishing anything is a plus. Maybe the rest of them should try it.

The surrender monkey was one of only four Republicans to vote against eliminating earmarks.

Newt is proposing keeping spending at 2007 levels, with exceptions for SS and Medicad, how creditable he is on that is debatable, he's rather late to the cut spending side of the argument. He is better on the tax side then he is the spending side.

All the other candidates are more or less in the grow our way out of the budget deficits camp. As is the Fed chair, Bernacy. Well maybe, but carrying the note on 20 trillion is gonna hurt. And should interest rate rise the pain of a 20 trillion note will become unbearable. Also the outlook for growth is not good. Europe is a mess and east Asia is slowing so I don't know where the growth is going to come from except maybe inflation. And as we all know inflation is another word for theif so I am not looking forward to inflation either. And besides deflation is still occurring in all but commonities so inflation is not assured either sans the fed dumping a few more trillion in a QE whatever.

Example of fraud: votes against all foreign aid except to palestine.
Example of fraud: claims to want to cut the fed budget but adds millions in ear marks.
Example of fraud: knew about those racist, anti-Semitic
letters and contributed to some of them, yet had denied and knowledge until recently.
Example of fraud: rails against the GOP establishment, even though he has been in congress for decades doing nothing and has been partnering with Romney to destroy Gingrich and Santorum.

I've made that argument too, just ask yourself would we be better off without all the legislation that Congress has passed in the last 30 years or not? My answer is hell yes, repel the last 30 years of the "do somthing" Congresses and we all would be MUCH better off. I wish we had a do nothing Congress when LBJ was in office.

Good point. Newt has the capability of bold action and I am supporting him with crossed fingers hoping he would do so with the budget but talk about moon bases and the like worry me. The most important thing we can do is not to follow Greece to bankruptcy court.

“All the other candidates are more or less in the grow our way out of the budget deficits camp. As is the Fed chair, Bernacy. Well maybe, but carrying the note on 20 trillion is gonna hurt.”

Exactly. Santorum worries me because he has supported a lot of big government spending, though to his credit I think he opposed MediPill. I have no confidence at all that Willard will slash spending. I think Paul and Gingrich are the most likely to try to dramatically cut spending.

And you are right that our debt payments will eat our lunch once interest rates are no longer kept artifically low.

“Example of fraud: votes against all foreign aid except to palestine.”

You may consider that fraud. I call it ending foreign welfare. Why should American taxpayers pay billions to Mohammedan countries, African hellholes, etc. when we are borrowing 40 cents on every dollar? End all foreign aid now and by doing so cut our deficit.

“Example of fraud: claims to want to cut the fed budget but adds millions in ear marks.”

I believe we discussed this upthread, but to revisit the issue one last time: If there are not enough votes to end all earmarks, a congressman who is against earmarks may feel that if his constituents are going to have to pay for pet projects around the country anyway then his district may as well get their fair share, too. I don’t know that I would approach it any differently. If you refused earmarks for your own district on principle I would support that also.

“Example of fraud: knew about those racist, anti-Semitic
letters and contributed to some of them, yet had denied and knowledge until recently.”

This may well be. I don’t know. I know that Perry was slimed early in his campaign because alledgely his family used hunting grounds with an old rock that had a racist name. I suspect Willard will be slimed for the past history of Mormons and blacks. If Newt wins the nomination, some racist charge (real or imagined) will be thrown at him.

“Example of fraud: rails against the GOP establishment, even though he has been in congress for decades doing nothing and has been partnering with Romney to destroy Gingrich and Santorum.”

I rail against the establishment, too. I suggest you do so also. I disagree that by consistly voting “no” Paul has done nothing. Better a no vote on big government spending than a yes vote. Or do you think congressman should vote yes for big government programs?

So you think giving Palestine foreign aid is helping reduce our debt, and making us safer?
