Would love to get a good, true feel or report on how the voter turnout is coming along!!! The reports so far have either been light or steady voting. That makes me nervous!!! If Newt Gingrich is to win or make a very strong showing, a massive “today” voter turnout is necessary, because so many voters cast early or absentee ballots. A light turnout favors Mitt Romney, big time. IMHO, it behooves Newt supporters to get on the throttle...and this very site, to urge voters to turnout and vote for Gingrich!!!
Does anyone really have a good, honest read on how the vote is proceeding as far as turnout is concerned? The media, all kinds, is not helpfull at all!!!
Lots of working people vote after work.
I did sign waving this AM with a friend. We hit 3 polling places covering 12 precincts in SE Broward with large numbers of registered voters. One of the precincts went 45-55 dem in 2008 and I have no clue about breakdowns for the others but they are likely similar. Turnout was very light. The busiest of the 3 polling places was doing about 50 voters an hour and the least busy about 1/2 of that (9-11am).
We got lots of thumbs up for Newt but our sample was so small that it means nothing. Much more interesting is the fact that the Broward SOE shuffled the deck on polling places for a good number of voters. If people show up to the wrong polling place, they are issued a ticket with the new address on it...if their old polling place is still a polling place. If their old site is not in use, they have to figure it out for themselves. I think this may impact the elderly more so than other groups.
