"What is going on, is that apparently, not that many people want Newt to win. Pretty simple really, they don’t like him."

Spot on. Sometimes a simple conclusion is the correct one.

Character counts (Past and present) in the voting booth which is why politicians try like hell to cover-up their past transgressions (LBJ/Kennedy affairs ect...) and present a squeaky-clean image for the electorate to digest. This becomes easier with mass of propaganda aided by the complicit mass media that either aids in the cover-up or provides damage control to previous misdeeds. Newt does not have this apparatus in his corner.

Unfortunately for Newt supporters, the years have not lingered long enough for many to forget his past transgressions and allegations laid out by his opponents. The day is not over, though; the only poll that counts has not been tallied yet.

This is correct from my experience. Went to a Tea Party meeting last night and although this is supposed to be the activist branch, able to endorse candidates, the only candidates they were promoting were local and state.

The guy across the table from me was for Romney and there was no talking him out of it. At least one of the leaders was for Santorum, as was a friend who was there. Another member of the leadership committee was for Gingrich.

They did not endorse anyone for president or even take a vote on it, on the night before this crucial election.

As a freeper said recently, maybe it IS time for the Tea Party to become a real party. What is the good of them if they’re not taking sides? Same with Tea Party Express.

I agree with that but those who would vote differently when given info will learn too late that the press was duplicitous.

No doubt about it. The press is the enemy of fair elections, or even truth itself. They are the free propaganda outlet for Democrats, and the free attack dogs against republicans. They don't even bother to pretend they are objective anymore.

You all sound like you have lost the war already! It is only the 4th state! Have faith, fight, support Gingrich. He needs you now more than ever!
People power will trump money power!

Remove obozo from the ballots.

Vote Gingrich as write-in if mitten is forced on us, to send them a message.

If mitten is the pres (because obozo is not on the ballots), we stay vigilant to force mitten’s hands to repeal obamacare, cut taxes to grow the economy......

Third Party Time Folks—The way Newt was Palinatized is shameful. Its time to call the GOP Bluff. If they elect the Mittens —the Tea Party should go out the door. AT VERY LEAST we should be ready with a plan B. A fall back plan to punish the GOP! A Whole new party—a party of Big Ideas!!!!
Gold Standard! No income Tax, No Abortions, No PC, No Afirimative Action, Smaller Government, and out own oil and gas. We may not have a choice. They want us to become like Europe? Maybe we should go the way of lots of little parties rather than the two that have become one.

It's scary that people haven't woken up to that.

It was also posted on FR that some stations were saying they had to "vet" Newts and his PACs ads before they could be aired.....while Romneys ads were out and out lies.

"“When 34% of the Tea Partiers polled are going for Romney, Paul or no one in FL today, what the hell is going on?"

We can only hope & pray that they are lying to the poll takers.”

When many Evangelicals are voting for a Marxist Mormon today in FL, what the hell is going on?

Perhaps they are not bigoted.

“The sheeple who got stampeded by the GOP-e and Romney’s $$ are going to be in for a sad surprise come November”

You are so right MM.

He is a feeble candidate. The MSM will have him DOA with RomneyCare, His Cayman Island treasures ...

an that goofy Debate Smile/Smirk...the media will do a whole week of Debate Prep just on that.

He is DOA...The E is past ignorant and this proves it.

As I stated, the day Romney is nominated (still hold out hope for a Convention Gingrich/Santorum/Paul collaboration)

...I’m going down to take my name off the GOP Party Registration and I’m registering Independent until I see a viable Third Party that spins off from the Tea Party.

OK look here.

I get your angst. I have been out of sync with powers that be here myself before...and got banned for a year over it.

Bush amnesty...2005-2006

But this time..I am on the launch side of the ZOT

You have been here since 1999 noexcuses...

JR has made it crystal clear that this forum will never brook a pro abortion, pro gun control, pro homosexual agenda.

Mitt Romney has been all of that and more in spades his whole career and has only changed any of those positions since he decided to run for president.

And on healthcare he is still justifying Romneycare which is the mothership of Obamacare...

There is not enough TV ads or media and GOP establishment coverage to change those facts.

and the Democrats will use that...the only thing Mitt can really rally against Obama on is foreign policy and his loose claim that as an LBO operator he can turn the country around fiscally...and given I have never liked LBOs and the media will rip him to shreds over that I doubt it will do much.

So crying about JR zotting Romneybots has no grounds.

JR is simply enforcing the creed of the place that has been intact for 14 years.

IS Newt perfect...no...but imperfect as he is, he is last man standing against Romney and he exponentially reflects the views held here on the forum and in Fresno better than Romney. Most folks here have wandered about from Palin to Bachmann to Perry to Rick to Cain and so forth...either all or partly and ended at Newt by default as the anti Romney and he is up to it...considering he is like David against Goliath he is faring not too bad...

I see the posters up and down all these threads and find many folks taking issue with all this are often found not to be social conservatives and that is not surprising. Underneath, that is what this is all about....no reflection on you...I don't recall your positions on those issues.

Santorum is another matter, God love him...hope he drops out tonight.

Whether he’s a Mormon or not he’s still a liberal. He still is an abortion pushing, gun grabbing, homosexual supporting, big government liberal.

That’s very true. In addition, I am relatively active with the local R party, and based on my conversations I have noticed that many conservative R women (I am talking about long-term conservative, Republican, strong family values, very politically aware types) find Newt’s personal life over the past 15 years, in particular his second divorce and third wife, to be repulsive. I am not defending that view; that’s just my observation. Family stability, commitment to a wife, etc. are important values to this class of voters. I am convinced Newt’s past is costing him 10 to 15 percent of the primary vote in the Southern states.

I know many conservative women who won't tolerate having a mistress like Callista Gingrich run for First Lady ("She's no lady!"). It's not just Newt's indiscretions that hurt his chances.

"the party will come together when this is all over"

Yeah, they'll all be together sitting out in the street, after Buckwheat's massive landslide re-election scratching their butts and asking each other "Uh, gee, what happened?"

“I just wonder how many down ticket races will be lost as a result of putting Romney at the top of the GOP ticket.”

Maybe some; but, most of us anti-Romney folks are smart enough to know to vote for any good candidates at the Congressional/State levels. The question is: Who are those “good people”???!!! Mostly what I see is RomneyBots and noncommittal “fence straddlers.”

I don't hear anyone in the Republican Party speaking out against this travesty; particularly here in VA where they have rigged the primary. I like Ken Cuccinelli, from what little I have seen; but, he has remained silent ...and I wouldn’t walk across the street to vote again for McDonnell or Boles after this latest assault on the right to vote.

If Romney wins don’t count me in on the piecing together. I will not be joined with him. Millions are with me on this. If Mr. Romney is the nominee, third party here I come. I will NEVER hold my nose and vote again. Period.

Simple: people are basing their votes solely on their view of which candidate is more electable.

Not surprising, given that Santorum supporters here are regularly belittled for not supporting a guy who is "electable", and Santorum has been called vile names, the mildest being "unpatriotic", because he won't give up since he is "unelectable".

The most amazing thing to me, is that Americans ID themselves as 40% conservative.

<>><><><><><><><><><>

In the real world, conservative is an economic thing, here it is bundled with social conservatism.

2 very different animals using one term to desc ribe things wildly different. IMO.
