Newt Gingrich removes “anti-immigrant” Romney ad after scolding by Sen. Marco Rubio,
Miami Herald ^ | 1/25/12 | Marc Caputo

Sen. Marco Rubio scolded Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaign over a Spanish-language radio ad that accuses rival Mitt Romney of being “anti-immigrant.” “This kind of language is more than just unfortunate. It’s inaccurate, inflammatory, and doesn’t belong in this campaign,” Rubio told The Miami Herald when asked about the ad. (snip) By mid-day, Gingrich’s campaign said it would pull the radio ad out of “respect for the senator’s wishes.” About the same time, former Sen. Mel Martinez and a group of Hispanic leaders aligned with Romney in issuing a letter demanding Gingrich remove the ad.

Evidence is mounting the GOP is in a death match. I’m guessing the Romney people have written off the right and will form alliances with disgruntled democrats in the general election.

This is war. In war you throw bombs.

Okay. But why do we have to throw them at each other???

I don't know what it is about the GOP; but it seems it has an in-built suicidal instinct. By the time these fellows are finished abusing one another, they ALL will be "damaged goods" by the time "the last man standing" appears before the American general electorate next November.

And we see the very same thing played out here, at FR, a conservative website. Long-time friends and fellows in Christ suddenly start having profound difficulties with one anothers' choice of candidate and/or political position. The "lines" are drawn....

Something is very wrong with this picture....

Which is why I said much earlier, prayer and fasting are likely far more efficacious than "political discourse" right now....

That is really the only point I wanted to make.

So I'll just clam up for now and pray....

...for a great American Cultural Revival, or Spiritual Reawakening....

Absent that, it's four more years (at least) of Obama ... entailing "death to America." JMHO FWIW

Each other?

Romney is not one of us. He is the enemy.

If Romney wins the nomination, then we have lost the war.

Now is the time to unleash the dogs of war. We can reload after the convention, but right now our focus is on defeating the enemy that is before us. That enemy is Romney.

Please forgive me, dear brother in Christ; but I think you're living in a fantasy world....

The enemy in the real world is: Obama.

Defeat him, and you live on to fight for conservative principles (whoever the "last man standing" is, he is better on such principles than Obama, without doubt). Do not defeat him, and watch America lose her tie to the Constitution altogether, and go down into the graveyard of "failed political systems" that need to be replaced by "better," more "progressive" ones....

1. Romney did not go with Gingrich’s call for ‘no attacking our own’. He started attacking Gingrich in Iowa and Gingrich honored his own pledge of not attacking fellow R candidates until after NH primary!
We all know what those one-sided attacks (not based on facts) did to Gingrich - they sank him entirely!
2. Wouldn’t you defend yourself when you have had it? Why can’t Gingrich defend himself by paying Romney back with some ‘attack ads’? And Gingrich even offered to delete whatever Romney can prove to be baseless!
3. You can’t blame a candidate for fighting back to keep/regain what he has earned through hard work! If he does not fight back his fellow competitor how is he going to fight against the ultimate enemy - obozo the usurper?!

4. In the primary you fight to be the nominee, ideally by winning the issues. How can one win on issues alone when the opponent uses unfounded attack ads to destroy the issue-man? In politics, attack ads work if you don’t defend yourself!

We all would have preferred issue-oriented campaign, but Romney started it and there is no turning back.
If we have to blame anybody we have to blame the one who started it!

That seems to be Gingrich’s fate - he is the whipping boy. It is always Gingrich’s faults?!

“You have to live to in a world of Swiss bank accounts and Cayman Island accounts and automatic $20 million a year income for no work to have a fantasy this far from reality,” Mr. Gingrich said. “This is an Obama-level fantasy… He certainly shows no concern for the humanity of people who are already here."

First, let's look at the end of the quote. It says that Gingrich is comparing something with an Obama-level fantasy. What is he comparing to it? He is comparing Romney's belief that people with family ties in the US are going to self-deport. I agree with Gingrich on this one. I would not self-deport if my family were here in the US. I would not desert my blood.

Now, Newt points out a possible source of Romney's fantasy. He says that it is because Romney lives a life different than that of an illegal, and that for Romney visiting back and forth those distances would be easy. He would just get in a plane and go back and forth as he wills.

So, it is a pragmatic attack on Romney's insensitivity to other peoples' reality, and that that is also a hallmark of Obama's policies.

Ethics Violations: They weren't upheld. The sole count against Gingrich was that he taught a class that had a political slant. The IRS found that was not so. It took a while, and their exoneration was on page 23 of the paper and not a headline, but it is nonetheless true.

Resignation: Because his OWN colleagues from the moderate wing were joining in the attacks against him. John Boehner was one of the leaders.

Lobby: Newt Gingrich has released his contract with Fred/Fan and it shows that his firm was contracted to do consulting. Gingrich (and others) have explained that there is a difference between lobbying and consulting. Now, if Gingrich lobbied, then don't you think it odd, with everyone a Romney-bot that not one member of Congress past or present, not one member of a department past or present has been brought forward to say "He tried to lobby me." Bring forward someone lobbied, Mr Romney. After all, lobbying requires more than one party. The failure of any opponent in the middle of a campaign to put forward even one person who was lobbied says that Gingrich wasn't lobbying. That is such a heated issue that the Romney campaign would be scouring heaven and earth to find even one and shove this down Gingrich's throat. NADA. Not one. And it's a charge that Gingrich can only respond to by saying he did not do it. How can you prove that you did not do something? Romney is using a cheap "still beat your wife" accusation, but it's working for him, because other than releasing the contract itself, Gingrich has no recourse other than denial. He could publicly point out that no one lobbied has come forward, but as soon as he did, a sycophant would lie. Better to let US figure this out on our own.

Sister, it is clear to me that Mitt Romney is evil.

No one supports taking believers’ money to pay for killing babies and does not know exactly HOW they are violating the conscience of every one of them.

No one kills a baby and doesn’t have a twinge of guilt.

Unless, of course, they are ambassadors of the dark side.

Rubio has become quite a politician! Everything to cover his a**. Got to stay on the good side of his money-man benefactor. Got to please his fellow Latinos. Play it safe -1. don’t address the natural born citizen issue when asked to be the the VP or join the pres race. (He could have said: ‘I am honored but I am not constitutionally eligible.”)
2. so much for being a tea-party conservative - protect his benefactor knowing he is NOT a conservative; dare not ‘vote’ with the tea-party in the selection of the pres candidate, betraying the tea-partiers who got him the senate seat.................

To defeat obama, you need to, in the primary, defeat the one who cannot defeat obama. Romney cannot defeat obama. Romney, if undefeated in the primary, will be another obama!

They all want to defeat obama, but they have to win the nomination first.

Since Romney has shot the first arrow, the fight is on. No sense lamenting their fights. He who is the fiercest fighter will win and go on to fight the ultimate enemy - obama!
Keep your eyes on the victory at the end of the war!

I think the race is Gingrich & Romney. The more the Rats hate Newt the more I like him. However, I believe Newt has fallen into a terrible error of attacking Romney's business success and his personal wealth. These attacks quickly became attacks on success in general and free enterprise in particular. Class warfare is a Rat tactic and in the end Newt is going to suffer.

I'm convinced either candidate will beat obama. After the Pubs win they better get to work quickly because I don't think the American people are going to be patient after 4 yrs of this disaster.

“but I don’t like politicians who say one thing in english and then say something else in spanish.”

Reminds me of Arafat, who took opposite positions depending on whether speaking in English or Arabic. I’m glad Gingrich was called out on it.

I wish they'd concentrate on Obama now also, but Florida is a key state so this will probably continue.

Thank you for sharing your insights, dearest sister in Christ!

Gingrich was making fun of “self-deportation” duing his Spanish language TV interview. Said it was unrealistic. Yet at the same time he purportedly defends state efforts, like Alabama’s, which have actually created “self-deportation” by drying up illegal employment markets. Guess he’s positioning himself to the right of Obama but to the left of Romney on immigration/amnesty. Perhaps there’s room there to pick up votes. OTOH, Romney is likely lying about his immigration policy views, so who knows? I bet both, as President, would sign some sort of partial amnesty.
