So ... what do you consider to be the "simplest explanation"?

It's an obvious piece of disinformation. Question is, "who dropped it?"

0bama campaign and R0mney campaign are both plausible answers.

Loons at KOS, DU, or some similar cesspool are also plausible answers.

I would not put it past CNN. They have proven their bias in the past.

Remember this? (The Times no less):

In a shocking New York Times opinion piece, CNN’s chief news executive Eason Jordan has admitted that for the past decade the network has systematically covered up stories of Iraqi atrocities. Reports of murder, torture, and planned assassinations were suppressed in order to maintain CNN’s Baghdad bureau.
