How the Obama campaign will use Romney offshoring revelations
Washington Post ^ | 01/20/2012 | Greg Sargent

The Obama campaign and Democrats see the revelations about Mitt Romney’s offshoring as a boost to their central case: That Romney is the walking embodiment of the reckless, unfettered, profits-at-all costs capitalism that caused the crisis and helped rig the economy against the middle class, in favor of the rich.

They will argue that Romney’s private sector conduct is a preview of the priorities, philosophy and view of capitalism that he’d bring to the presidency.

On a conference call with liberal bloggers just now, Obama campaign officials sketched out the case they’ll be making about Romney’s Bain days, his offshoring, and his refusal to release tax returns.

“If you want to be president of the United States, what you do matters,” the official said. “Mitt Romney not only has been partaking of these policies, he still favors them.” The official added that Romney personally embodies the “speculation and risky dealmaking” that helped cause the meltdown and has badly damaged the middle class’s security.

The campaign will also use Romney’s refusal to release tax returns — which could contain more revelations about his offshoring — in order to advance their other primary argument: That Romney is in some basic way not being forthcoming about who he is.

“Why doesn’t Mitt Romney just come out with all of this?” the official said. “Why doesn’t he just tell voters in South Carolina, Florida and other primary states exactly what he’s been paying in taxes and what his investments are? It’s clear he doesn’t want the American people to see these things.”

Pushed on whether Romney’s counterargument — that these criticisms constitute putting capitalism and free enterprise on trial — could have resonance with swing voters, the official suggested the Obama campaign would aggressively rebut it.

On a positive note, Obama can contrast his underwhelming record of success from his foray into “capitalism” with Solyndra.

Its not just about Bain.

The Bigger issues is Odummy needs to get his foot soldiers mobilized and whipped into a Frenzy. That is the only way he can win.

Now bring in Occupy WallStreet. Mittens with his supposedly millions in the Caymans and what is it 5 houses. He is the 1 Percent the Wall Street elite.

Now Odummy has to Cultivate the OWS virus into a GOTV frenzy against Mittens and he has what I think he believes to be a winning Strategy.

Now lets look at Newt. With all his baggage and faults he WILL cause some of the Christian Right to stay home but I don't see OWS in a GOTV frenzy against him. So while some conservatives will not vote for Newt, Many many of Odummys OWS foot soldiers will sit home unbathed smoking pot, fornicating and playing video games instead of voting for their savior.
IMHO

Yes this is a great spectacle. The empty suits in the media carrying the water for our Socialist in Chief. Have finally revealed his jealousy. It turns out according to CBS News no less. That in additional to failed Solyandra there are 11 other Turkeys with $6.5 Billion in Govt. cheese guaranteed Crony Capitalism loans. An Officer of Bain Capital was just hired by the Feds at the OMB. The Deputy Campaign Director for Obama used to work for a Private Equity company. These morons are shooting at each other in a circle. LOL this is highly entertaining like the Gang who couldn’t shoot straight.

I think Romney should ask to meet with the president. He can hand the president his financial documents.

And the president can hand Romney his certified long-form birth certificate that’s been held all this time in Hawaii under seal.

Who would be the right witness for this exchange?

yes Romney has money in the caymans but he pays TAXES on
so that becomes a non issue
Bain ? gives more money to dems than GOP
AND a former Bain was hired by 0dumbo
so bain will be a non issue
Romney’s houses? he pays property taxes on them all so that is a non issue
There will be a few stupid blind followers of 0dumbo but there will also be many who got mersmerized by 0dumbo in 08 that now see the light.

NOT EXACTLY!!!!

I called a person this AM who is a busy invester.

He said that Mitt’s investments are legal under current law.....BUT the TAXES you are referring to that Mitt pays are paid to the government of the CAYMAN ISLANDS!!!

Ther is not one single dime paid into the US TREASURY until & IF Mitt brings such profits back into the USA.

There is a buzz in Obama’s administration to give a one time amnesty on taxes to such investers ‘to bring more capital back into this country’. Mitt would be a perfect target for such legislation.

Therefore:
1. Mitt is currently paying NO USA taxes on his Cayman Island investments!!!

2. If Mitt gets elected, he can call for such an investment profit amnesty—saying that Obama called for such before the 2012 election.

3. IF Obama gets re-elected & he gets such legislation passed, Mitt wins also.

It is definately an issue with me!!! I want to know where else Mitt has investments outside of the USA.

Can someone clarify something for me?

I am under the impression that with the current campaign laws, a person MUST file a FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE FORM when they file to run for higher offices. Perhaps not for dog catcher!!

I have been led to believe the Mitt Romney did file such a document for this election, but that he did NOT have a single thing listed about his Cayman Island investments.

I believe that such disclosure documents are available to the public to read, but I haven’t a clue how to find them & I am on a land line. It would take me 2 weeks to find it!

Can anyone clear this up for me????

1. as you pointed out it is LEGAL to send funds offshore so why does that upset you?
2. and tex romeny does pay taxes
here from a boston paper
“US investors in such funds, such as Romney, are still required to file tax returns and pay US taxes on the earnings from those investments, according to attorneys who specialize in the area.”
http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2012/01/20/mitts_not_alone_investment_funds_often_have_second_home_in_cayman_islands/

3. Actually it is a Republican idea to have a one time amnesty for companies to bring back profits they have made overseas, odumbo would give tax crdits to companies who bring jobs back

so if Romney becomes the GOP nominee who would you vote for?
