I think a nadir has been reached with Romney where truly, we have a distinction without a difference. Always we must select between flawed people. That is a given. Here though, both are so close to absolute moral voids that I cannot see a practical distinction.

**************************************
Here is another analogy. A choice is to be made between two men:

One is Ernst Julius Röhm, head of the Sturmabteilung, or ‘Brownshirts’. He is a Nazi. He is a personally brutish, squalid and morally depraved street thug. He is a drug abuser and a sexual predator and pervert. He is a chaotic train wreck.

The other is Heinrich Luitpold Himmler, leader of the Schutzstaffel, or SS. Like Röhm, Himmler is a Nazi. Unlike Röhm, Himmler is self controlled. In his personal life Himmler is a teetotaler, a non-smoker, and he is a family man, faithful to his wife and loving towards his daughter. In his professional life Himmler is orderly, diligent, detail oriented and punctilious. He is an effective and honest administrator.

Which is the ‘better’ man? Which would you vote for, as between the two? In the event, Hitler opted for Himmler on the Night of the Long Knives. Indeed, for his purposes Himmler was the better man.

But say the choice was yours. Which of the men would you advance, if the power was held in your hands. How could you advance either one without aiding and abetting evil?
***************************************

Romney and Obama have proven, demonstrable track records.

1) Both are responsible for entrenching and enabling abortion at will, and doubtless having effected more of them through their policies, Romney by making it cheaper with money taken in taxes from the general population, and Obama by holding the line as long as he could for post birth infanticide.

2) Both are contemptuous of the Second Amendment rights of Americans, which is to say the natural right of all persons to self defense.

3) Both are willing to compel government ‘health care’, which by definition can rightly be called ‘health control’. This is not the State in one’s bedroom, this is the State in one’s very medicine cabinet and ultimately veins - or not. It is, after all, not the individual’s decision anymore.

4) Both are economic predators, as seen by their embrace not only of the TARP legislation, but the whole ideology behind TARP. There is a distinction in that Romney is corporatist, and Obama is a syndicalist, but that is as significant as whether one is eaten by hyenas or by jackals.

5) Both have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment to advancing homosexual copulatory arrangements and dignifying those liaisons with the name ‘marriage’.

6) Both are brazen deceivers, who have never admitted error, fault, or guilt as far as I know.

MrB I know you well, and we track brother, on the issues that matter. I can respect your decision, and understand the reluctance with which you make it, but I cannot go there. I regard neither Romney nor Obama as ‘lesser evils’. Both of these sociopaths are such great evils that I cannot push either one to greater power and influence. I will reject and oppose each of these demonstrably vile men with every fiber of my being. I will not participate in this game. That is my stand, and I trust you can respect it too.

Maranatha.

You are ignoring my stance that I am fighting against Romney in the primary process, so in the primary we stand on common ground. You jump to the general and attack my conservatism. Fine, you will not vote for Romney in the general. Using your same logic, then you will be casting a vote that ensures an Obama victory, therefore your vote supports marxism and specifically Obamacare.

Can I question your conservatism now? If you want to lose any opportunity to reverse the most liberty trampling legislation in history, then so be it. Just make sure you write an apology note to you future family tree that will not even own the rights to their physical being.

Lets fight to keep Romney out now, then we will not have to have this conversation July thru October...

Sometimes you read something here that simply takes your breath away. You, sir, have done that for me this morning.

God help us.

a conservative legislature can keep a rino in line... working for more control in the senate and house is as important as a change in the whitehouse...

romney at the very least will mean a change in the right direction, but not as far as we conservatives would like to go... but it will be a start.

I will vote for whoever is running against Romney in the primaries,

and for whoever is running against 0bama in the general.

I feel pretty much the same way except I have Paul on my absolutely not list. No way no how.

That's a good article, but there's more. I live in a solidly Republican county in the middle of nowhere, but they keep it effectively illegal to start any new, small, productive business. ...and much worse (done by Republicans).

All political groups are now quite socialist and kleptocratic.

Starve the beast.

There is simply no substitution for a Tea Pary takeover of the Republican Establishment. Tea Party supporters simply must get involved in every state, at every level, and become the majority of the ward or district captains of the Republican Party.

These are the folks who actually vote for the candidates which appear on the primary ballot, and adopt the qualifying rules to which those primary candidates must adhere.

Then we have to nominate and support conservative candidates, warts and all, because those candidates will continue to be smeared by the republican establishment until we manage to replace them.

Time is running out, and we simply do not have the time to build a 3rd party from the ground up.

Gingrich or Santorum could move the trajectory of our ship of state if elected.

Mitt might be our only choice, but no one will be happy, excited, or simply accept his policies that simply let off the accelerator without changing the trajectory.

A very belated WELCOME ABOARD, ebshumidors! Very good article. Thanks for writing and bringing your work to our attention.

(working in reverse)...

For you and me, welcome to the plantation.

We're all (subjugated by) socialists now? Welcome to Hillarycare/Romneycare/Obamacare/Totalitariancare (it doesn't matter if you're a 10th amendment totalitarian or a commerce clause collectivist).

Besides, we don't need a businessman to straighten out our economic woes. We just need to stop looting and over-regulating businesses and taxpayers and making them servants of the government instead of the other way around.

EXACTLY!

Workers of the world unite?

No...workers, employers, entrepreneurs, producers in The United States of America unite! Throw off the tax-and-spend shackles of socialists, the ruination of regressives, the plunder of parasites, the commands of collectives, the fundamental transformation of totalitarians.
