Perry Loses Key SC Donor To Romney after Attack on Romney

Presidential candidate Rick Perry's criticism of Mitt Romney's business past has cost him the support of a prominent South Carolina Republican.

Investment fund executive and top GOP donor Barry Wynn told The Associated Press Thursday that he's leaving the Perry fold to endorse Romney. Wynn says he was irritated by Perry's attacks on Romney's time at the helm of the private equity firm Bain Capital.

As Wynn put it, "It's like fingernails on the chalkboard."

Perry struck hard this week at Romney's work at Bain Capital. The firm sometimes turned big profits even as companies it invested in went under and people lost their jobs.

By Thursday, Perry had backed away from that line of attack after days of calling Romney a "vulture capitalist."

Why is it ok to hit Perry on Gardisil or immigration, to hit Newt on global warming or Fanny Mae but not Romney. What a setup. I;m so sick of the constant spin for their candidate.

Like Sarah said, it’s ok to question Romney on this stuff, he’s the one touting his experience.

“...Newt and Perry both shot themelves in the foot when they backed off attack mode...”

I will go to your links and see for myself before I swallow the news media gloatingly reporting they’ve “backed off” this line of attack.

Every radio talk show shill attacked mercilessly when Gingrich and Perry hit Romney on Romney’s BS claim that he was a private sector job greator through his corporate raider activities. All this tells me is they were hitting Romney where he is most vulnerable. All Gingrich and Perry did was try to explain they were not attacking the capitalist system itself and the Romney shills would say they had backed off their attacks on Romney.

It’s time for Anita to smell the coffee and realize that there’s no way she will be first lady and let Rick throw in the towel.

This has become painful to watch.

“There is not attack on capitalism.

Your statement is a total Straw Man argument, or lack thereof.”

Just wait for when Obama and the MSM goes after him for the same stuff, I bet these guys think their denunciations will hold the same clout.

Yup. It was like Perry morphed back into the Democrat he used to be.

The local radio station played Newt’s comments several times yesterday - Newt telling a reporter his attacks were a “mistake”. He should have reinforced that he was taken out of context or that he was misunderstood...he should have explained himself, but instead comes off as weak and a knee-jerk reactionary.

No worries. There are more damning statements by Romney that are going to hurt him even more.

With Perry’s poll number he was probably looking for a reason to jump. Jump straight to the elite gravy train.

Bingo. That's what unprincipled opportunists do.

“Capitalism is a means to an end, it can be a force for good, or it can be a force for bad, depending on the motives.”

From Adam Smith’s “Wealth of Nations”:

“It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest.”

They were unAmerican attacks.

Romney had a library of Congress quantity of flip-flops that he could be scorched before they attacked the economic freedom that his brilliant, profitable and private work at Bain fully utilized to make a more efficient economy. If you want to change the president of a water company - don’t smash all the pipes in the street, go after the man. Newt is a small man, and Perry looks foolish.

I think Newt and Perry hurt this nation, and fueled the Democratic disinformation machine that is dragging this country to socialism. They deserve to lose.

Hate to hear that. Gingrich had to say something after the withering counterattack by the “conservative” talk show hosts. I gingrich going forward with the half-hour documentary expose of Romney? Isn’t there supposed to more in that regarding Romney record of getting rich as a corporate raider?

I guess all of the conservatives pretending like they arent supporting Romney (while going all out for him on this) better fortify themselves for all of the shilling they will have to do keep that act up if he wins.

Can you imagine 6 months of whining from Rush to the people on FR over how the press and Obama are just attacking poor widdle Willard?

Adam Smith wrote another book called, “The Theory of Moral Sentiments”

“How selfish soever man may be supposed, there are evidently some principles in his nature, which interest him in the fortune of others, and render their happiness necessary to him, though he derives nothing from it except the pleasure of seeing it.”

BUT why should American taxpayers have to be forced to pay for Willard’s business incompetence and greed?

Workers were denied the severance pay and health insurance they’d been promised, and their pension benefits were cut..

What’s more, a FEDERAL GOVERNMENT insurance agency had to PONY UP $44 MILLION TO BAIL OUT the company’s underfunded pension plan.

Nevertheless, Bain profited on the deal, receiving $12 million on its $8 million initial investment and at least $4.5 million in consulting fees.

http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/01/bain-drip-drip-drip/

The Wall Street Journal analysis this week was devastating for Willard the Vulture/Lib at Bain..

Adding insult to injury, Bain would hide its profits in tax havens, not even paying the rate it was supposed to on the profits it made laying off workers.

Let’s see how the taxpayers feel about bailing out these companies’ pension funds and receiving no tax money back from Bain. Let’s let the people decide what they think of bailing out Romney.

Bottom line again: Why should American taxpayers have to be forced to pay for Willard’s business incompetence and greed?

BWAHAAAAAAAAHAAAAAHAAAA!

“If you want to change the president of a water company - don’t smash all the pipes in the street, go after the man.”

“If you want to improve the company, don’t grab all the assets for yourself and move the company to a land with lower wages....” Two can play this game.

Yes, Newt is going forward with ads as well...I’ve heard the ads played yesterday. His PAC has also been flooding the airwaves (they’ve been playing all morning) with the same attack. Newt said it was a mistake, now denies he said that. I think his stance on the subject depends on which way the wind blows.
