Oh, to have a spare $12 million to play Grand Designs with. Spare a thought for Tiger Woods' ex-wife Elin Nordegren who is tearing down her Florida mansion to build a new one.

Nordegren has just demolished the $11.7 million pad - so she can build a better home on the same plot, TMZ reports.

“Hell hath no fury...”

That maybe true but what does it have to do with this house?

My point was that it’s entirely possible part of her motivation was to demolish this vestige of her life with the cheating ex.

Article is flase.I’d say conservatively that the HOUSE itself was worth no more than $1.5 mill..most of the value is probably in the land..doesn’t say how old the house is, or what condition it was in..it was nice, but not architecturally distinctive..many times, indtead of a major renovation, it’s cheaper, easier, and faster.. actually to tear it down and start from scratch

Bingo. Crappy (but large) house on a very valuable property.

My daughter and her husband just did the same thing on a much smaller scale. They bought a house, for the property ,and intended to do a complete model. They wound up tearing down the entire house because the foundation couldn’t support the new structure. It would have cost them a lot more to remodel then build from scratch and they now have a house worth almost triple what they originally paid for the smaller house.

I would agree if this was the home where they resided in Jupiter Island FL. However this is a home she purchased herself last March in North Palm Beach, FL. She began renovations in Oct and then decided to raze the sturcture and start over.

So again I ask how does “Hell hath no fury..” relate to this property?

Location...Location...Location....she obviously liked the location, but wanted her own house on it....happens all the time.

Must be nice to have that kind of money to waste.

It is. Who hasn’t tossed out some arguably usable article of clothing or tool appliance that functioned, in favor of something that provided better service, or was simply preferred.

It’s called prosperity.

Ever visit a junkyard? Those cars could have been repaired! If you want to see what an absence of “waste” looking like, visit a parking lot in Cuba.

A warning to suitors that if she can't remedy a situation, she will obliterate it and replace with a better model?

... but sat on FOUR acres of land..the land was easily 80% of the value, and land can’t burn down......

And if you get hail damage to the roof they will probably say, "Sure, you have hail damage but your problem is the roof is old. That is why it is leaking." That, despite the roof not leaking before the hail damage.

My reply was that the roof was only six months older than it was when they insured it. Still no-go.

LOL...........

I think that would be understood with all the money she now has at her command.

Sorry, I assumed this was the house she and Tiger owned on Jupitor island.

You know what happens when you assume.

Salty air is highly destructive ~ like Tiger found out they may look great but when you take a good look at the golf club coming your way at 85 mph, it may be time to run for the SUV.
