What Ann Coulter and the GOP Dare Not Say about Immigration
Canada Free Press ^ | Wednesday, January 4, 2012 | Selwyn Duke

In a recent election piece, pundit Ann Coulter identified illegal migration as one of the two most important issues of our time. She writes that if we fail at halting it, “the country will be changed permanently.” She continues:

Taxes can be raised and lowered. Regulations can be removed (though they rarely are). Attorneys general and Cabinet members can be fired. Laws can be repealed. Even Supreme Court justices eventually die.

But capitulate on illegal immigration, and the entire country will have the electorate of California. There will be no turning back.

[Snip]...Coulter is, of course, right – but she only dare hint at the real problem. The fact is that halting illegal migration will do nothing to forestall the socialist electoral shift to which she refers.

In 1965 Ted Kennedy purposefully steered the whole country off the bridge.

He’s right, because last year on the Steve Malzberg show, Coulter defended Chris Christie appointing the Islam sympathetic judge, because New Jersey has a high Muslim population.

The country must slow down the rate of immigration and allow those here to assimilate.

We must not only reduce the number of legal immigrants, but also the kind of immigrants. We need a merit based system rather than the kinship based system we have now. We are importing poverty. 57% of immigrant headed households with children use at least one welfare program. Milton Friedman said, “You cannot simultaneously have free immigration and a welfare state.” We have both.

...democrats are using immigration deliberately to change the electorate. It’s crazy not to stand up to that...

but eventually the government will run out of everyone else's money

Not as long as one American still has savings or 401k etc. The politicians and bureaucrats are salivating at a way to get their filthy greedy hands on that money without actually getting hanged from the nearest lampost.

When historians look back to determine what caused the decline and destruction of America, they will identify the Immigration Act of 1965 as the fatal step that changed the country forever. Demography is destiny.

Ann Coulter would certainly benefit from your profoundly truthful CA political insights!!!

The Rockefeller/Country Club "Rich Republicans" feel endowed by their creator with party rule by devine right and they detest conservatives as agitating rabble rousers that are just too passionate and embarrassing for them to support!!!

The only thing worse in their eyes are "Cultural Conservatives!" Only "Fiscal Conservative need apply but people marching on D.C. and bringing in a bunch of "riff-raff" through the Tea Party are simply not welcome and should stop trying to become interlopers by running for office or high party positions, etc.

All of this is expecially true in CA because the state is so big that high-priced TV campaigning is the only type that works, which makes it too big and needs to be split!

You are correct. My two fingers accidentally added “il” to the beginning of the word. My bad.

But Ann did lose me with her fawning over the two wenches we were given as supposedly ideal candidates.

I like your optimism, but drive by an elementary school in a Blue State and you will see there is no more America. It is a welfare state-fueled boondoogle of overfed, overpaid and underworked bureaucrats and stolen tax money.

I live in California, and it’s completely over, finito and cooked. In areas that have survived the invasion, the Soros-ACLU-Social Justice crowd are suing to place Section 8 units into upper middle class areas, like my town.

Stick a fork in Blue States, they are finished.

No, even that won’t help now, it’s getting too late.

It’s time to “close the door” on immigration. Not only illegal immigration, but ALL immigration, “legal” as well.

And keep that door closed for a LONG time — I reckon 50-70 years at least.

If we wish that our traditional “American” culture be preserved (which was originally based on white, Euro, Protestant stock), we don’t have any other choice. If we are not serious about doing this, that culture which meant “America” a century ago is doomed to be diluted to the point of near-extinction.

It may already be too late. It certainly _is_ “too late” for California. And, like it or not, Texas won’t be too far behind (if you’re a Texan and disagree, just take a look at the “birth demographic” trends in your state).

The poster who moved from Seattle to Kentucky had the right idea — that is, no use trying to save the sinking ship, but rather, find a good hiding place and try to keep your head above the water line for as long as you can. It’s no longer about “saving the ship”, but saving yourself...

You are correct. The Left wants the SEIU to confiscate all the IRAs and 401K’s to a “public trust” where private savings will be re-distribtued via “fair” Government pensions for all...Lerner and Stern presiding...

That’s when the SHTF or just march willingly into the gulag as your home and property are seized by the Obamabots.

Some important notes about illegal immigration.

1) Illegal Mexican immigration needs to be split from the problem of illegal immigration from other countries. Among the big reason for this is that:

a) Mexico’s birthrate has dropped like a rock and is now about 2.3 children per family. This means the *demographic* reason for illegal immigration is going to strongly trend downward, and it will be far more *economic opportunity* oriented. This in turn means a more desirable class of immigrants, with the exception of the gangster and repeat offender criminals.

b) The serious Mexican criminals are a major problem for both countries. Mexico’s laws are too liberal, and they are too unstable to take a lot of hard core criminals at once, which could cause a worse war on our border, so the best solution might be what amounts to a Mexican quality prison just on the north side of the border, using American punishments.

c) America can handle a steady flow of Mexican immigrants, at a level in which they can be integrated, but not more than that. Those already integrated and Americanized need some mechanism other than the ridiculous one we currently use, as a path to citizenship.

2) Immigrants from other nations, on the other hand, need very different rules than what we use for Mexicans. Many are a terrorist security threat. Some are legitimate political refugee immigrants, and yet another batch are purely criminal in orientation.

America should never get suckered into allowing immigration of undesirable immigrants “because it’s only fair”. There is no reason we should admit persons from much of the world at all, even for such purposes as to attend our universities. For example, already there are situations of non-American Orientals being given preferential admission to our universities over US citizen Orientals, solely because the former group are foreigners.

“Since the 1965 Immigration Act...”

How did we ever manage the economic growth and wealth we achieved from 1945 to 1965 without all those immigrants?

It really is depressing. Immigration is an issue. But the state has been equally damaged by these east coast liberal transplants that have control of the CRP and think the only solution is to move further to the left, meanwhile using their big government representatives to fund their investment du jour. We slide further into socialism and they laugh all the way to the bank. WASS!

The Pubbies have given up (they're good at that). They figure that there are already so many so-called Hispanics that it would be fatal electorally to oppose immigration.

I recommend numbersusa.com for coverage of the immigration issue. They rank the candidates on their positions.

As much as I would like to see a moratorium on legal immigration, I recognize that that is not going to happen because of the lack of political will to do it. And there are some pragmatic issues to deal with like sponsoring foreign wives and children of American citizens. And unfortunately, due to demographics and a failed education system, we will need to bring in selectively, immigrants who have the skills we need to remain competitive in the global economy--at least in the short term until we can turn our educational system around. By 2019, half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as defined by the USG. Most of them will be black or Hispanic, two groups that have the highest out of wedlock birth rates and school drop out rates. They will play a big part in our future.

If we wish that our traditional “American” culture be preserved (which was originally based on white, Euro, Protestant stock), we don’t have any other choice. If we are not serious about doing this, that culture which meant “America” a century ago is doomed to be diluted to the point of near-extinction.

We are being colonized by the Third World thru our legal immigration policies. According to the Census Bureau, by 2050 one in three will be Hispanic in this country.

The poster who moved from Seattle to Kentucky had the right idea — that is, no use trying to save the sinking ship, but rather, find a good hiding place and try to keep your head above the water line for as long as you can. It’s no longer about “saving the ship”, but saving yourself...

There is no good hiding place except out of the country. The numbers are just overwhelming. Every state is becoming a border state.

Where’s Newt on it? I actually have no idea.

Apparently in fruit loop territory based on his recent comments.

Pro mass immigration supporters have successfully stifled the debate by lobbing "racist" and "xenophobe" labels at the rest of us. We need to quit playing defense and go on offense. There are so many substantive, unassailable arguments to be made, but we'll never get to that point until we quit responding to these epithets.

I don't feel compelled to qualify every argument against illegal immigration with some implicit denial of bigotry, such as "I have Hispanic friends who don't support it". I also refuse to apologize for the fact that I believe an Hispanic-majority country isn't in our nation's best interests. There are plenty of Hispanic-dominant nations, and we aren't obligated to become one. Those who disagree might be happier elsewhere.
