Or am I being unfair in my assessment?

A little. Ron Paul only has to open his mouth to alienate some of his own supporters. But he's obviously attractive to the people who want the GOP to attack big government head on instead of try to co-opt it. The impression I get is that the GOP establishment is more afraid of Ron Paul than he's afraid of them. If they continue to talk conservative while delivering Obama-lite, they should be afraid, very afraid.

Ron Paul IS NOT a conservative - period.
The GOP, sane America are afraid of Paul because he has delusional foreign policy ideas.
How could anyone with a brain not fear him over these issues?
He has nothing to contribute to the conservative debate because he is not a conservative, all Paul does is muddy the waters of sanity.
