The best the republican party can give us is Romney vs Obama? Many people will pass. Not yet sure if I’m one of them.

Why don’t you guys believe this. The moderate Republicans and Dems I speak with are for Romney. I am afraid he is the only one who can beat Obama. I used to not think so, but the press has succeeded in poisoning the field, and the candidates have had done a good job of screwing up as wel.. Yell and scream a and call me names all you want but it will not change the facts.

You are quoting poll numbers and claiming that they are facts.

Fact 1) Not a single vote has been cast so everything is an opinion

Fact 2) Iowa, as a barometer of the national pulse...sucks

Fact 3) New Hampshire has about a million people, and it is an open primary, who gives a fat rat's ass about this nothing state except the media and the couple of people that live there.

We could move the entire population of NH to FL and nobody would even know that they are there.

Iowa and New Hampshire are meaningless media creations and are only important because they are first.

Could you imagine any media coverage of either state if they held their vote in late March? Hell no, and both states know that they make money in spite of the facts that they are meaningless, but first in line.

If Romney is the candidate, I bet you are the type who will stay at home.

Stop me if I am wrong.

Different election. First off, no Republican was going to beat Obama in 2008.

Second, that election was going to be ideologically driven no matter who our nominee was. Even in a year where the Republican brand wasn’t battered by 8 years of an unpopular president, McCain clearly isn’t the guy to sell it.

This time, the election will be about Obama, so long as Republicans nominate someone who is inoffensive to the middle. Republicans have no real need to sell conservatism this time around.

The women who would vote for Romney will vote for Obama first. The women I know who understand what is at stake will vote for Newt. It is degraded to women to believe they will vote for Mitt because of his looks. The women I know are not that shallow.

Drudge hired 2 political writers earlier this yer:

1. Joe Curl

2. Charles Hurt

So I would be interested in knowing their backgrounds and biases and how they are influencing the Drudge Report’s coverage.

I live in PA too and have Democrats in my family. They think all the Republican candidates are jokes except Newt. They value intelligence and always say he is by far the smartest of the bunch. They say as long as his policies sound good in the general election, they’ll vote for him over Obama.

Drudge works for Romney. Disgusting.

Per Cincinatus’ Wife:

Nov 14, 2011: Special report: The golden age of opposition research Original source – Reuters .....Overall, Romney is thought to have the best oppo team in this Republican primary, with Yost as chief of research and Matt Rhoades, another veteran of RNC opposition research, as campaign manager. No one in the Romney organization would comment.
*****************

Mitt Romney leads the Drudge primary.....”Frustrated rivals think they know the secret: a low-profile, hard-driving Republican operative named Matt Rhoades, who is Romney’s campaign manager. Rhoades met Drudge, as POLITICO Editor-in-Chief John F. Harris and co-author Mark Halperin reported in their book “The Way to Win: Taking the White House in 2008,” when he became research director of the Republican National Committee and was introduced by his predecessor on a special trip to Miami. Rhoades has since been seen as a pipeline to the reclusive Drudge, who now has two veteran Washington reporters working on the site as well.”....

“It’s no secret that Matt Drudge has a high-level friend inside the Romney camp, but his favoritism puts him noticeably out of step with other conservative media,” said an aide to one of Romney’s Republican rivals. “Sometimes it’s bias by exclusion, like when conservatives universally slam Romney for his RomneyCare speech and Drudge gives him a pass.”........[and there is more] Source

Look - Romney makes me ill - but if its him or obama - damn it - i am not going to pout in the corner and stamp my feet - we need to get rid of obama!

Damned straight. Primaries are for picking the person you really want, and Generals are for stopping the person you really can't stand. I would REALLY have to hold my breath to vote for Romney, but he'll be better than Obama on every issue out there. He'll also (hopefully) have to deal with a Republican Congress that is more conservative than he is - remember that the President doesn't call all of the shots.

It’s extremely short-term thinking to think we need to put up a liberal Republican just to win this election...

So four more years of Kenyan Stalinism would be better for our National Security than Mitt Romney?

Do I have that correct?

The moderate Republicans and Dems I speak with are for Romney.

Doesn't that tell you something? Isn't that a giant red flag warning? If you're a conservative, why would you back him? Frankly, the RINOs and Democrats who say that are much more perceptive than any conservative who backs Romney. The RINOs know that any conservative statement which comes out of Romney's mouth is a statement of convenience which is designed to dupe unwitting conservatives. The Romney family has been fighting the Reagan-wing of the party since father George's days.

Conservatives, don't give up on this race. Romney's nomination is not inevitable, despite what the RINOs and MSM want you to think. Avoiding Obama by selecting Romney makes as much sense as avoiding a Ford by selecting a Mercury. The differences are only comestic.

I hate Romney personally - but I have to put my feelings aside as we need to get rid of obama.

Women will vote for him because he looks like the husband they wish they married. Its that “security” thing.

Old people will vote for him because he reminds them of times past and gives them a feeling of security over a ron paul type or Newt.

Country Clubbers will vote for him.

“Mushy middle” types will go for him since he does not come across like an idealogue.

Look - I am not voting for him in the primary - LET ME REPEAT - I AM NOT VOTING FOR HIM IN THE PRIMARY.

But if its him or Obama - I will of course vote for mittens in that case. our national survival is at stake.
