Dyersville, IA - Renowned economist, father of The Laffer Curve and supply-side economics, and architect of the Ronald Reagan economic plan, Arthur Laffer, announced his endorsement Tuesday of Newt Gingrich for President of the United States.

"Newt has the best plan for jobs and economic growth of any candidate in the field," said Laffer.

"Like Ronald Reagan's tax cuts and pro-growth policies, Newt's low individual and corporate tax rates, deregulation and strong dollar monetary policies will create a boom of new investment and economic growth leading to the creation of tens of millions of new jobs over the next decade. Plus, Newt's record of helping Ronald Reagan pass the Kemp Roth tax cuts and enacting the largest capital gains tax cut in history as Speaker of the House shows he can get this plan passed and put it into action."Mr. Laffer will join Newt Gingrich in Storm Lake, IA Thursday for a formal press conference announcing the endorsement.....

Laffer was on the Cavuto Show where he also said:

"Nothing bothers me about Mitt Romney. I think he is a very fine man and I think his proposals would be fine and I think he would make a fine president. I just don't think he is as good as Newt Gingrich."

Why don’t we just say “no” to all Republican Candidates and re-elect Obama?

Any of the candidates in the field are better than what we got.

Give me a good argument about your candidate and quit beating down the other guy!

Get a grip. I was not “beating down the other guy”. I merely posted a quote from Art Laffer. Laffer’s saying he has no problem with Romney and his policies should be considered when evaluating his endorsement of Gingrich.

Good interview with Laffer on Fox announcing the endorsement. Degan McDowell seems to have paid her tanning tax recently.

Game changer!

It is for me. Fiscal issues far outweigh all the other issues for me, and Arthur Laffer is a brilliant economist.

I understand Thomas Sowell has endorsed Newt also.

Gingrich had an excellent article in the WSJ this morning outlining some of his economic ideas and the policy changes he would make. It was very exciting and something we could really get behind. And yes, Sowell did endorse him.

Sowell doesn’t like him personally and said that it was with reluctance that he had to admit that Gingrich had the best plan and possibilities of actually carrying it out.

I thought Laffer previously endorsed Perry......

“Governor Perry understands sound economic principles, including the fact that tax cuts and restrained spending stimulate private sector growth and opportunity,” said Laffer. “The Texas economy continues to outperform the nation, and that is testament to policies that limit taxation, reduce frivolous litigation, and provide predictable regulation. I endorse Governor Perry as the best candidate to keep Texas on strong financial footing.”

I knew I was recalling correctly that Laffer already endorsed someone else. So it was Perry, huh? Thought it was Romney.

Laffer also liked Cain’s 999 plan although I don’t believe it was an “official” endorsement:

“Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan would be a vast improvement over the current tax system and a boon to the U.S. economy,” Laffer told HUMAN EVENTS in a statement. “The goal of supply-side tax reform is always a broadening of the tax base and lowering of marginal tax rates.”

Added Laffer: “Mr. Cain’s plan is simple, transparent, neutral with respect to capital and labor, and savings and consumption, and also greatly decreases the hidden costs of tax compliance. There is no doubt that economic growth would surge upon implementation of 9-9-9.”

Jobs and the economy will be the number one thing people will look at more than anything else. That is what Gov. Rick Scott said he will be looking at here in Florida. Whoever has the best jobs plan. Even Sarah Palin has said that is what she has been waiting to hear about from our candidates. Many voters are scared they will not even have food stamps soon, let alone a job.

How can one forget Wrong Paul?

I stand by my initial statement that any of the candidates would be better than the current.

I never stated to what degree, nor did I state whether or not they would be good, just better than what we have.

Art Laffer was just on Fox and Friends. He is very vocal in his support of Newt. Said he has 6 kids, 11 grandkids and is seeing some very critical moments coming in the next 4 years.

Blasted Bush and Obama’s handling of our finances and reminds that Newt has done the job both with Reagan and Clinton. Says Gingrich is far and away the best to do the job and has the most comprehensive plan. Most endorsements don’t carry much weight for me, but when Art Laffer talks, I listen.
