The extension of the payroll tax Social Security tax cut is not good at all. The Republicans should have fought it on the grounds that it is not stimulative and that it weakens Social Security.

Why Boehner thought it smart to fight for a year's extension is inexplicable. That he caved means nothing.

Why does the media label all these guys who were in office before the tea party got started (and most of whom voted for bailouts etc) as tea party?

They even label Michelle Bachman as tea party. And even though she did not vote for the bailouts, she was not part of the tea party movement either.
