N.H. mom on Ron Paul: ‘Feel like he’s talking to me’
Boston Globe ^ | Tuesday, December 20, 2011 | Hillary Chabot

GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul, surging in Iowa just two weeks ahead of the Hawkeye state’s famed caucus, could also get a lift in New Hampshire from undecided GOP voters who seek a straight-talking candidate, Granite State voter Deborah Bouchard-Smith told the Herald.

But her husband Ken Smith’s objections to Paul’s tactics and platform suggest the primary rollercoaster ride is far from over. The Herald is tracking the undecided Smith family as they make their choice in the heated Republican primary.

“When listening to Newt Gingrich talk, I feel like I’m listening to a politician. But when I hear Ron Paul talk, I feel like he’s talking to me. ... He’s someone everyone can understand,” said Bouchard-Smith, a small business owner, wife and mother.

Paul passed former House Speaker Gingrich and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney to become the front-runner in Iowa, according to a poll released by Public Policy Polling yesterday.

Ken Smith, a Portsmouth city councilor, said, “There are a lot of people like our family who have not made a decision yet and the tide keeps changing because everyone is taking a look at all the candidates.”

FWIW...I am not a Paul-bot ...or even a libertarian....however...his is the closest to an anti-Federalist candidacy....and that-”anti-Federalism”- is the mood of the electorate in Flyover Country.

More like listening to Prof. Irwin Corey on acid when he speaks about foreign policy. Fiscal matters - he's spot on.

You know what's NOT "the mood" in "Flyover Country?"

Legalizing drugs, making Iran our BFF, disowning Reagan, 911 conspiracies, anti-semitism, disowning Lincoln, sucking up to the Taliban, repealing the Patriot Act, and taking the border fence off the table.

The more "Flyover Country" really gets to know Dr. Paul, the more they are going to HATE him.

Ron Paul speaks to Americans who love freedom. He wants to follow the US Constitution and believes in limited federal government. He believes that at this current rate of spending we will end up bankrupt like the old soviet union. He wants to audit the federal reserve . He want the government out of people's lives so that we can make our own decision. He want to stop this welfare / entitlement culture. He wants to stop foreign aid which takes money from our poor and gives it to the rich people in third world countries .Ron Paul's message is clear and consistent.

Federalism is our system of government - or what it is supposed to be. We have an anti-Federalist in office now. What we need is a strong Federalist to restore our system of government.

So your talking points say, but actions speak louder than your words...and so do his own words.

Ron Paul speaks to Americans who love freedom.

Yes, he does. But it appears that to many here, liberty and the Constitution are over-rated. They prefer safety, security and control --or the temporary illusion of it.

Apparently this Mom isn't alone in feeling "Ron Paul is talking to her". Here's another guy who thinks the same, but for very different reasons. (Poor guy seems to have missed the "Ron Paul is a racist" memo/s!)

"RonPaulFlix: Defeating the Media Blackout Since 2007."

Fox News had to BEG Ron Paul to come on for MONTHS before he agreed to. Here he provides a wonderful example of just how he manipulates his followers with lies and half-truths. He wouldn't go on, because he didn't want to answer any inconvenient question. That's the only reason.

For Pete's sake, in the early debates (the ones moderated by liberals, anyway), when he was polling in single digits, he was getting as much airtime as either Romney OR the flavor of the month.

Yeah, I can see why a then-candidate for president would reject all the free publicity he could get./s

I love the stupid crap that comes out of the mouth of the anti-Paul camp. It's so obviously made up as you go along.

Fox News' Cavuto recently went on air saying that Ron Paul is NOT getting a fair shake from media pundits.

Guess no one at Fox told him about the "begging" incident./s LOL!
