The question was about atomic “number” of 8, not atomic weight. Atomic number is number of protons. Atomic weight is protons plus neutrons.

Latin for potassium bearing rocks is Kallium. Just like sodium is Natrium, so we use Na in the periodic table. Plumbum for lead, same difference.
I studied ALOT of chemistry in HS, then alot of physics and CS in college.
I knew about Plumbum, but not the other two names, thanks for that! I have little doubt that there is enough group knowledge here on FR to answer just about any scientific question.
