Operators of a U.S. drone lost flight control of it along Afghanistan's western border with Iran, according to a U.S. official with knowledge of the incident. The crew operating the unmanned drone reported a loss of flight control just before the drone went down. U.S. officials are aware of reports out of Iran that they shot down a U.S. RQ-170 Sentinel and believe this may be the drone the Iranians are talking about, according to this U.S. official.

BAD gamer. No Doritos.
The pilot is uncounted for. Let’s hope he or she is found in time to be home for Christmas. In other news, don’t we like have these spy satellites that can read a license plate from space?
Yeah, I’m worried about the pilot too...
All kidding aside, it's great that we have this technology that allows us to do what we do w/o having to put American pilots at risk.
Sounds to me like the Iranians have found a way to jam the frequency used to fly the thing.
They don’t need to shoot it down if they can do that.

Eventually, ALL unmanned aerial vehicles become unmanned ground vehicles.
I hope the pilot’s OK! Rescue mission NOW!

Lost US aircraft in Iran...just one more thing Obama has in common with Carter.
I read that it only incorporates first-generation stealth technology. They purposely left out the latest and greatest, given this aircraft's type of mission and the consequent high likelihood of samples falling into the wrong hands.
Smart, if true... Not that I don’t think our military would consider those factors in the first place.
I think the more important issue - than possible stolen tech secrets is that Iran is stating in ITS papers that it perpetrated what would generally be considered an aggressive action against the US. The mullahs are, IMHO, planting the seeds for a “defensive” war propaganda-wise. Fortunately, there are many in Iran who are well aware of the fact that it’s attempted propaganda.
“The pilot is uncounted for.”
The RQ-170 is a unmaned remote controlled device. The pilots of these drones usually sit somewhere in nevada near vegas.
