Pretty smart to throw away foreign exchange earnings, in particular now that tourism has dried up. In spite of sixty percent of her workforce being employed in agriculture Egypt must import half of her caloric intake. Hogs in China will outbid people in Egypt on the world grain market. If Egypt's food production is not equal to her population, perhaps her population should become equal to her food production.
