So true, Our family lost my 11 yr old nephew to leukemia and my dad is fighting small cell lung cancer that has spread to his brain, liver, spleen and abdomen. It is awful to see the suffering and sickness...just with the chemo and radiation treatments.

It might be too much to hope for that side effects are non-existent or insignificant. If the clinical trails show significant side effects, the drug might be eligible only for recurrence prevention rather than primary prevention. And clinical trials often (i.e. usually!) miss some side effects. I hope it works out also.

hate to be a party-pooper, but cancer therapy is littered with hopeful pronouncements like this, all the time, but never pan out. I hope they are correct, as this is Nobel Prize material, but I'm not holding my breath for 6 years.

You would think something like this could be streamlined to come out in three years at the most. People who are in real risk don’t mind taking a risk.
Same here. I think it was called multiple myeloma luekemia. He died at the young age of 56 from an acute form. Almost two years ago to this day. I remember because we stayed in Green Bay for the funeral and Thanksgiving all in the same week. I pray on behalf of my father and all others in that situation that this becomes a reality.

Humans are fragile creatures and we manage to damage ourselves on a regular basis. If we live longer we will require more repairs. Rather then one big thing to fix they will be fixing the nickle and dime stuff.
Less then five years ago I had never had surgery since then I have had four to fix things that happened when I was young and dumb. What used to mildly ache when I overdid it turning into screaming pain. I lived long enough for it to become a problem.
Get rid of cancer and we will live longer, which will mean that we will live long enough for still other things to be a problem.
The docs have nothing to worry about.

Some where if you listen really good, you’ll hear the sound of some Muslim screaming that it is a Jewish plot to give them all Cancer. So I think it is safe to say that the vast majority of Islam won’t be lining up to get this.

I know it’s what killed my dad at 62, and that was thirty-five years ago. It’s the most awful disease you can get. It’s the one that really worries me. I’ve had my Dr. test me for it. If this works, the world once again owes the Jews a debt of gratitude (instead of the back of their collective hands).
The good news here is that Chavez will die before the trials have been concluded. Score one for worldwide decency. The sooner this bastard reaches room temperature, the better off the world will be.
