Penn State trustees fire football coach Joe Paterno and PSU president Spanier

Penn State trustees fired football coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier (SPAN-yer) amid the growing furor over how the school handled sex abuse allegations against an assistant coach.

The massive shakeup Wednesday night came hours after Paterno announced that he planned to retire at the end of his 46th season.

But the outcry following the arrest of former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky on molestation charges proved too much for the board to ignore.

One key question has been why Paterno and other top school officials didn't go to police in 2002 after being told a graduate assistant saw Sandusky assaulting a boy in a school shower...

Here moron let me be graphic, and I guarantee this post will not be deleted.

10 year old boy. Most likely prepubescent, no knowledge of heterosexual sex let alone gay sex. His anus was probably extremely small to the penis that penetrated his anus.

Someone witnessed the rape of the 10 year old boy and immediately reported it.

Then a 13 year old boy, (not sure where he was in puberty) was getting oral sex by the gay pedophile. A janitor witnessed it and reported it.

Penn State, including JoePa covered it up.

Some folks blamed the parents, well in 1998 parents of one victim filed charges and a DA dismissed the charges.

In 2005 that same DA went "missing", in June of 2011 he was declared "legally dead". That's something in a Mafia Movie from Hollywood.

Now we have witnesses who saw a 10 year old boy anally raped, a 13 year old boy given oral sex, and the hierarchy at Penn State was fully aware of this. But football takes priority.

What if this pervert POS raped your son if you even have children which I doubt. Anyone with kids of their own are as protective of their children as a grizzly bear or mountain lion.

There is one specific group of people who don't have children, they use children as sexual toys. That is a fact!

Some did. Read the report. One even got cops to hide in their home to hear Sandusky’s confession. the police questionably shut the case down soon after.

Then, not long after, Sandusky ‘retired’ but was still allowed access to PSU facilities for his camps.

I've been wondering why Sandusky retired when he did, a fairly early retirement by most standards. I expect some more information will come out about that and more dots will be connected in the coming days.

God help us.

Look at the damage ONE HOMOSEXUAL pedophile can do! PSU is in meltdown because of ONE fiend who only raped young boys.

BTW, this fiend is out on bail AND still walks the streets of State College. No doubt, fantasizing and scheming about the next boy he can rape.

"How and the HELL did Paterno not know this was going on!!!!"

From what I told by another Freeper, "most of the kids were from a charity fund that Sandusky had set up for neglected, no father figure etc." The question is, was Paterno involved in this charity program.

It’s got nothing to do with political correctness. It has to do with THE RAPE OF A CHILD. That child is more important than football. He should have called the police.

Oh good God - the students are reacting to news that their coach is being fired and most probably don’t have a clue about the facts. But the entire school isn’t to blame - a child molester and those men who covered for him are being rightfully fired or prosecuted. Blaming the entire student body and faculty is like blaming every person who has a 401K for the collapse of the market

Hopefully this will help: http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/uploadedFiles/Press/Sandusky-Grand-Jury-Presentment.pdf

There is not a word about Paterno in the Grand Jury Presentment.

This will be like a death in my family. Rural PA took much of their identity from JoePa and Penn State. They always held their heads up because they might be never-graduated coal miners but they were also Penn State.

Exactly the same situation for my coal-mining and associated PA relatives. This is HUGE for them.

Everyone is dirty in this.

I would be willing to give the benefit of doubt to every one except for Second Mile. We could assume they all thought the investigation was fruitless.

Once Sandusky starts with Second Mile, which had a high profile, they all should have thought to themselves “oh shoot” and followed up again.

I think Paterno comes from a generation that chooses not to think about these things unless they have to.

He seems like a good man, and the reality of what happened will probably haunt him, if not kill him.

I remember at the time Sandusky was considered a legendary defensive coach, he was as lauded as Paterno was. Because of Sandusky, Penn State was called “Linebacker U”, there are several NFL Hall of Famers, who literally owed their careers to Sandusky.

Hyperbole much? Get a grip. A crime happened. That doesn't mean you bulldoze an entire university. Again, punishing 1,000 (or more) people for the vile acts of one man makes no sense whatsoever. What amazes me is that everyone is focused on JoPa and the admins... Compare the number of times they are mentioned compared to the actual perpetrators name. That should tell you something. The fact that it was NINE years ago should tell you something. The fact that the families did not come forward until the news wagons were out front should tell you something. The fact that otherwise rational people on this very thread are calling for the entire university to be shut down should tell you something.. The immediate hyper-overreaction simply based on the fact that we've been taught to instantly hate when wwe hear the words "child sex crimes" should tell you something. The fact that you accuse people you don't know of being he equivalent of such file criminals should tell you something.

Or do we simply abandon all reason when our masters in the media say the magic words? Just wondering.

Wow is the first thought that comes to mind. One can’t believe that this is the way it all ends for Joe Paterno but the trustees clearly made the only decision they could make. How on earth PSU is going to be able to get up and play Nebraska this saturday and then travel to Ohio State is beyond me. Talk about a season going up in smoke.
