To me this “recommendation” is saying, “Since it’s a given that your child is going to have sex with a bunch of people, you need to get him/her vaccinated.”

Look at all the problems that are caused by disobeying one of the 10 Commandments and having sex outside of marriage. Unwanted pregnancies resulting in a very high percentage of those kids growing up in poverty and without a father. Or, the aborting of that child which, as well as killing that baby very often causes the mother mental distress for years. Incurable diseases. Unstable relationships. Etc., etc. etc.

So WHY doesn’t society prevents a huge number of problems and tell kids, “DON’T HAVE SEX UNTIL YOU’RE MARRIED!”??

My dad once said, “There is not one commandment that, by obeying it, makes your life worse.” (or something like that)

Now, to add to the above remarks, I’m not saying I was perfect, I’m not saying all kids are perfect, I’m not saying parents can control what their kids do, and if parents make an informed decision to have their kids vaccinated, I have no criticism for them.

But it says a lot about society—and it’s not good—that we just assume kids are going to have sex with more than one person, without being married to that person.

We’ve been studying the old Testament in small groups at our church, especially the Ten Commandments. While I agree that Christian teachings disapprove of premarital sex, the Ten Commandments and the early old Testament don’t actually condemn such activities. Leviticus 20:11 defines adultery as relations with a married woman. And the Commandments simply say thou shalt not commit adultery.
The closest we might come to a condemnation of premarital sex is to key off of First Corinthians 7:2, which says that since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. But we have to then make the leap from immorality to premarital sex to carry that theme through the Bible.
Not making a judgment on premarital sex in all instances. But most of us (more than 90%, at least, statistics would show), have it, and often not with the one we eventually marry.
