Folks, why can’t Herman Cain believe abortion is wrong, AND ALSO believe it’s not the President’s job to impose his will on the states?

Why can’t he have a strong opinion (such as being against gay marriage), YET ALSO believe the States should make their own decision on whether to allow gay marriage, state-by-state?

Are we so used to Omoslem waking up each day, deciding on what he wants, and FORCING the states to adopt his position by any means possible (EPA and so forth)?

Perhaps Cain can believe something without forcing his position upon the states. Maybe half the states will agree with Cain on abortion, and half will disagree.

What’s “incoherent” about that?

Too many are not aware of what roe v wade did to the states. Abortion was illegal at all levels in at least 33 states with more states passing the ban on abortion every year. Roe v Wade crushed states rights on abortion and now it is legal in all states. If roe v wade had failed in the SC, abortion would have been made illegal in all states eventually.

Folks review the folly of roe v wade and how destructive it was to state rights. The 10th amendment is a treasure.

States right are critical and are about the only thing stopping and or slowing down Obama.

Exactly. I’m shaking my head at the obstinacy of folks who keep attempting to pin Cain’s stance on this into a false dichotomy between “pro-life” and “pro-abortion.” And completely ignoring the crux of his position, which is centered on the constitutionality of what a president can or cannot do. Apparently people have forgotten about constitutional limitations like this.

For instance, the Stossel interview:

Cain’s “problem” in responding to these questions is that he’s interpreting the questions very literally at face value and giving direct responses—without regard for the political connotations. We like that, of course, but you can see how easily the media spins this.

Ask yourself how would you feel if Rick Perry had backtracked on so many answers.

Because if you think Abortion is murder it must be outlawed in every State.

As for marriage, again, that is a moral definition, one man and one woman, not open to State decisions.

No more then polygamy is.

Cain’s position is incoherent. If you believe abortion is morally wrong, you want to ban it. Herman isn’t seriously prolife and I’m very sad about that.

In my view, he believes in the principles of our Republic and not in the “spin” coming out of the mouths of the media manipulators.

Also: being still a little unused to all the permutations the media is going to throw at him (see, e.g., Palin and the perky one), doesn’t mean Cain is “winging it” or is clueless about what he believes or how he would govern.

It just means that from time to time, his lack of campaign experience will show in that he doesn’t have every single issue down to a practiced political soundbite.
